Interesting

Article in today’s The Australian, about NASCAR officials being at the Tailem Bend round of Supercars.

Speculation that NASCAR officials are running their eyes over Supercars for a possible buyout from Archer.

The article also mentioned that the NASCAR good old boys, maybe wanting to race at Tailem Bend!

If so, then Supercars initially choosing NASCAR engines, then later a NASCAR-esq chassis/silhouette body formula; may have been a cunning long-term plan.

Is there a superspeedway on the radar for the Shahin family?

You would think it would be doubtful. Running a superspeedway in Australia has been tried, and failed after a period of success.

It could be argued that the Shahin's are starting with a bigger fund of resources, but that still doesn't guarantee success.

With falling attendances and TV ratings one could argue that NASCAR haven't been getting too much right lately.

Didn't know Mr Phelps now writes for The Australian....

In all seriousness, they're probably the only ones that could buy out the category if Archer are still keen to sell. Would be nice if they did and put an end to this V6 turbo engine business and shelved some of the Gen 2 and 3 rules.

Is there ANY ICE based series anywhere in the world that is not suffering the same fate?

The problem seems to be that the car is becoming increasingly irrelevant to the current young male cohort which has in the past been the main fanbase.

Much as it would invoke cries of rage around here maybe som form of competition for EVs is the only racing (other than on games screens) that has a long term future.
