Ten place grid penalty applies to the second race only, as the first race is deemed as a qualifying race for the second race.

I think that makes sense. Are you with me?

Points split for races:

Race One

1st: 3 points
2nd: 2 points
3rd: 1 point

Championship Race (Race Two):
1st: 10 points
2nd: 8 points
3rd: 6 points
4th: 5 points
5th: 4 points
6th: 3 points
7th: 2 points
8th: 1 point

No, because even though the first race is only a Qualifying race for race 2, points are still up for grabs for the top 3 finishers.

so they get a ten place grid drop on their result in Race one which is really Quali 4 but in this case Quali 2.

what happens if they weigh more than a duck?

also the Marshals had to repair the barrier and that is another reason why you only saw one qualifying

All four Chevrolet Corvette C6.Rs will be given a 10-place grid penalty for the championship event because the cars are not in compliance with the sporting regulations concerning the position of the ballast required to bring them up to the new minimum weight of 1200kg.

Gachnang a broken leg. Cameraman a broken nose. Ma-Tech a broken car.

Quote:
Gachnang sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to Sheik Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi for further precautionary checks. The FIA Medical Delegate reported that Gachang was conscious and her condition was not life-threatening.

A cameraman was also injured while filming the race from Turn 8. He was hit by his camera and sustained a suspected broken nose.

I wonder if this puts her Le Mans participation in doubt. Although last year we have had a driver driving at near-full capacity after sustaining a broken leg not two weeks before the race...

EDIT: Apparently it's a simple fracture and it doesn't require surgery, so it should probably heal enough until June.

For that kind of speedy diagnosis she can use misdiagnosis.com

Guess it'll take some time before some more a proper call is made on that one.

Nah, Buemi's crash was very light, he more or less slightly brushed the wall on the left side, the car stopped in the gravel. It only looked spectaculair.

Getting quite fed up with the Fia/SRO regarding to the corvette's.
Either you homoligate them or stop f&*^the scruteneering. The MC-12 was never in complience to the rules and never seem to have troubles with scruteneering and the corvette's always do when being on pole/winning the race or threatning vitaphones (championship)win...

If they were out of compliance in a race I would understand the penalty for Corvette, but this was decided before the first race! Why not just have them move the ballast?
