P.Cummins should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
F1- Answer the Question

Apoligees if there is already a thread on this. If so, delete this one but I did not see one.

Anyway, this is an F1 brainteaser. I ask a question and whoever guesses correctly can ask the next. If someone does not ask his Q (on his turn) within 3 days, it moves on and anyone can post.

If a Q is not answered in 3 days, the thread can move along. Just to keep it going.

OK, I'll start with an easy one:

Who signed for Arrows for the 1978 season but died of terminal cancer (which no-one knew about) in the autumn of 1977?

Sorry, to be a bit dramatic. Apoligees if anyone was offended. But indeed, Gunnar died in 1978 (sorry, not 1977).

Ask on Son of Jor-El

Ok then, here goes.
In which race, year, and car, did John Surtees make his F1 debut?

Indeed - Nilsson had signed for Arrows for the 1979 season.

A tragic time for Swedish Motorsport that, Gunnar's death coming just weeks after Ronnie Peterson's.

Apologies, ignore my last reply!

Two are right, one is wrong.

Well, he drove a Lotus 18 Climax at the 1960 British GP. Thats when he was first considered by Colin Chapman, finishing 2nd in that race I think.

So maybe this is the answer:

Race- ?
Year- 1960
Car- Formula Junior Cooper BMC

OK. No problem.

I'd say 1960 Argentinian GP in a Lotus 18 Climax.

This is like Cluedo!

I cant remember what GP it was but I'm trying to remember what the first GP of 1960 was. Maybe it was the British. Im not sure.

OK, so I've figured out that it was 1960 in a Lotus 18 Climax. All I need now is the GP.

German GP?

Well done ASCII Man. P.Cummins was so close, unlucky.
Surtees only managed 17 laps.

Carry on ASCII!

Took part in qualifying at Monaco - not a serious attempt to qualify though and unsurprisingly DNQ'd.

Bernie never started a race, he did not qualify in one race and withdrew because of an accident in his second attempt.
