Plato is such an ar**hole, he was so forceful, so desperate. I agree, he's brainless and watching his post-race reaction I would have hard time trying not to punch him in the face if I were Ash...

I'm no Sutton fan, and he should get a strike, but he certainly wasn't as dirty.

Sutton tapped JP in the final corner, which is worth a strike for sure. But he also managed to keep it clean all the way around T1-3. He made a clean pass for the lead. Both times JP took the lead, he did it by hitting another car. And he did it within 1 corner of being given the opportunity to do so.

Tell that to Andy Rouse.

The BTCC was clean until the Plato-return era of 2004 onwards and it's a shame we have to resort to this tomfoolery and call it 'good old fashioned'. Give my Sutton vs. Turkington any day.

Watch the race through more thoroughly Bob. They were both bang out of order by current standards.

Ten years ago if this was Jason and Matt it would have been considered a vintage hard contest.

N.B. I like clean no contact racing. Probably why I have no time for a great number of current drivers.

Sutton already has 2 strikes , another one means back of the grid at Thruxton

which also means his title chances are dead

He thumped the back of JP into the final corner. It was the only time he made contact with JP and it was pretty blatant.

But with that said, that one incident wasn't as bad as any of the incidents JP caused.

He didn't get past with that or spin the other car out either. Both if with Plato did in two separate moves, plus the third being Sutton forced four wheels off the grass to the left and the fourth being Smiley.

Did you see that?

I don't recall contact being shown on the TV footage, and, as seen on the next lap, he was alongside to him due to tyres / the Subaru having better traction out of the corner.

Happy to be proved wrong though...!

That's what I counted too. Should really be given at least two reprimands.

It was shown on TV. He thumped JP in the final corner and JP went slightly off apex. JP was then waving/arm up out the back window to Ash. It wasn't the lap when Ash pulled alongside. That lap was 100% clean and supremely executed by Ash.

Not saying they're the same - Ash is maybe 1 strike, but he didn't advance position because of it. JP hit cars twice for the lead, and ran Ash off the road, and then the final incident if you want to count that too.

Most comments on the BTCC Facebook page seem to be implying Plato was innocent. Shows what simple people many BTCC fans really are.

A lot of people will take what the TV team says at face value. When the pundits call the wrong shots then it will filter down to the majority of fans - especially anyone who considers themselves a casual fan.

I get everyone's entitled to an opinion. And I'm certainly not tarnishing all BTCC fans with the same brush. It's the same with those that think no push to pass moves equates to a boring race. Shame what was otherwise an entertaining race ended in acrimony. We'll see if the stewards maintain their early season consistency.

Has anyone seen the photo of Sutton and Plato in the paddock after? Would like to have been a fly on the wall

Plato is a desperate moron, he really can't handle that Sutton wiped the floor with him for 2 straight years can he. I know that 3 in to 1 doesn't go, but Plato was never going to make that corner.

Tyres, well did they really have that much effect on race 3? it seemed like a typical race 3 to me and it doesn't seem like the extra 10% excitement is worth having two poor races. Tyres should be a contributing factor not a deciding factor.

I know the Subaru is slow on the straight, this year its seems much slower than normal, they were certainly in the mix in the 2016 speed traps. ToCA BoP or just BMR issues?

If Plato gets penalised for the smiley nudge, Turks did the same move on tingram without punishment?

I think that Ingram gave Turkington a 'get out of jail free' card by saying afterwards that his car had just lost some power at that point. Which is why he slipped down the order pretty quickly.
