Race Retro - Stoneleigh

Not long now until the Race Retro show (historic motorsport show) at Stoneleigh (23rd-25th March). Promises to be a good one this year with the largest turnout so far of Group B cars and plenty of other classic rally cars for the feature stage scheduled appearances include Lancia 037 and S4, Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16, Metro 6R4, opel Manta 400, Porsche 911, Ford RS200 (and no doubt some Escorts ), Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, Fiat 131, Triumph TR7.

Rallycross is also represented at the show with an Xtrac Escort and Porsche 911 on display to mark the 40th anniversary of the sport.

http://www.historicmotorsportshow.com/default.asp?

Anybody going along? I'll be there to see the slowly sideways group B stuff (hope the 205 T16's and S4 are still working on the Sunday this year!)and hopefully pick up a few bits and bobs for the car.

ClassicRallies should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
autograph sessions

I'm going to race retro. As you said it promises to be a good one this year.

And don't miss the autograph sessions.

I will be going.......went to the same show 2 years ago and was plesantly suprised. Looks like its going from strength to strength.
After going to the Autosport show for at least 10 years, I have finally come to the conclusion its a waste of time and money. Every year it gets more and more expensive and with less to see, a big disapointment. I certainly wont be going next year.
Hopefully this looks like it will be taking its place.
Looking forward to seeing the group B cars especially .

Much as I love watching the Group B cars I wish they had a better stage to run on. Up and down what looks like a car park with nothing but 90 degree corners doesn't do them justice.

Last year Slowly Sideways were at the Oulton Gold Cup meeting and used the school rally stage - more sweeping bends, a bit of gravel, and thanks to a downpour a watersplash sized puddle. A much better show for the spectators and I think the drivers enjoyed it more.

True, they are very constrained by the space available and they can't really have their true potential unleashed - but they're still an awesome sight and sound

I'll be there, manning the BRDA stand where we be showing classic rallycross, classic memoriabelia as well as promoting the 40th Anniversary meeting at Lydden, feel free to pop over and have a good look at the original X-trac Escort and Vic Elfords Porsche.

If any body has any OLD footage that they have converted to DVD that they would like to lend to us to show at the show, feel free to PM me

Heading over on the Friday and home on the Monday, really looking forward to it, first time over but if the articles on the net are anything to go by then it should be an awesome show and up to 47 GrpB cars in the one place will be just amazing

47? I knew it was planned to get more than previously but 47? Wow. I'll be impressed if there are that many. I did hear (or read?) somewhere that there will be 4 205 T16's
