That is of course ridiculous.

After all, we know the reading ability in this country has been declining so there is little hope that there will be many 3 years old children, if such an age description is still acceptable these days, that will be able to read the instructions let alone understand them.

Still, nice to know that they are allowed to do something with them since it often seems that society considers all children up to the age of about 30 are incapably of doing anything with anything technical.

Any by 35 they are too old ....to do anything.

I'm tempting fate here but my boiler is 40+ years old and still going well, it costs me a fortune to run but I still reckon it's cheaper than replacing it every 5 years with the modern crap.

Heating?....oh yes. that stuff that hopefully is (on a minimal setting) keeping our home on Lancashire from freezing.......

'Twas pretty disastrous today in the Canaries -it was cloudy in some places, so took the precaution of wearing Jeans rather than shorts - locals were huddled in hoodies and fleeces, as the temps got as low as 17C

Feeling really christmassy having watched Die Hard

Yup, but barring mistakes and emissions, it's done. Seemed a productive way to spend the day, as walking was a struggle and the weather was crap anyway.....

"emissions"?

Have we already arrived at the point where Formula E goes Historic?

I am afraid to say that the Escort has remained just about in the same state of build for the past three years. At present engine is out and new oil pump being fitted. Then on to the wiring and a few other jobs ready for the big race.

We're considering enter one or two cars at least. But the car-wrecking reputation of Brands makes us hesitate…*Not mentioning that the driving level is much higher than in France together with cars development stage.

Is it just for Mk1, or is any model of Escort eligible? It's not clear from the press release.

Sneer and scoff you may Tim, but I would have you know that Luton is a very popular destination indeed, why people flock here from all over the World.
I have Italian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Polish, Lithuanian, and Jamaican neighbours, the corner shop is Polish, the chip shop Chinese, the motor accessory store s run by a Sikh, I can buy my wife's Burkas, eat Jamaican, all within a couple of minutes walk from home.

The other day I swear I saw a white man walking down the road.
I think they got him though!

It's pretty much open to all Mk1, 2 and 3 cars. Group 1, 2, N, Special Saloons etc. Early interest has been very high so I guess there could be scope to split the classes if space can be found in the programme.

Sounds sensible, and will attract a lot more interest. Hopefully the tenther with the RS1600i s will bring at least one!

Best I express my interest to HSCC rather than chat about it on here....

Unfortunately mine is a rally car (and has a1600 8v Vauxhall engine, Bauble) so not really suiable but the Castle Combe Rally Day is the day before I think so may be attend that.

Perhaps there should be a rally stage demo at Brands as well?

Hopefully the various Escort/ Ford RS Owners clubs are invited to put on static displays?

I'd guess the possibilities for that will be down to clubs negotiation with the circuit itself.... AVO Club have already started celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Twink, which definitely went on sale in 1968. They had 5 at the NEC show last month, and I'll make sure they are aware of what's happening at Brands.

By Twink I will assume you mean the Escort-Lotus, as we preferred to know it at the time!

I presume Ford saved royalties by naming it ‘Escort Twin Cam’, and losing outside reference to Lotus.... It always amused me that the Mk1 Lotus Cortina became the Mk2 Cortina Lotus, I guess as Ford produced the car rather than Colin’s workforce.....

The Twin Cam will always be a Twink, same as the original 3 litre Capri will always be a ‘Humpy’.
