BTW Mike, Delta and anyone else who may be interested for 2011 Pre 74's (Post Historics) Pre 83's (Group 1) and Pre 93's ran by the CTCRC will be allowed the option of running a List 1a tyre or the Dunlop Formula R which as the club had lost the very mega sponsorship from Dunlop and the tyres are very expensive the membership voted for after a suggestion by Ken Clark. That'll sort the men from the boys!

The race series cars were all dyno'd at 140 bhp or may have been 143 bhp and not allowed to be any more. Only mod was cam and vernier pulley. They weigh around 1000kg so not very exciting power to weight ratio! Standard discs and drums- only pad material change- so just as well. They are quite slippery though and run quite wide tyres so carry a lot of corner speed. With good economy should cruise round for hour after hour.....

Iain, Mk1 RS2000 left factory with 8" drums (strange as all other AVO cars on 9") but easy to change to bigger size as Joe says. What halfshafts are you going to use?

Funny you should ask that question Mike. I have just sent the solid one piece shafts over to the machine shop to be polished where I'm told they all break. So do i fit the 8" or 9" rear brakes.
Al I'm afraid you have confused me on tyres. What do you suggest i fit.

dare to be different Iain, one of each!

or more to the point, whatever you've got!

are the 8" wider shoes? mk1/2 GT/lotus Cortinas and most GT capris etc all have 9", wider than std 8" so shouldn't be hard to find, just make sure you get all the little bits that go with them.

Tyres- For 6hr race list 1b Yokohama AO48-R I would have thought. List 1a are more road biased.

Brakes- As Joe says- 9" drums and backplates. Lotus Cortina, Twincam, RS16, Mex, Mk2 RSs and several Capri models at least used them. Capri had different widths as well.

I asked about halfshafts because the Gp1 two piece ones that are very lovely but expensive are made for Mk2 Escort and move drum (If it is MK1 RS fit) out a few mm. I had to fit MK2 drums on my road RS16 to get back to where they should be. Even Quaife at that time didn't realise there was a difference!

I use a plastic material for signmaking called Foamulux for door cars, very easy to work with and can be heat bent or an aluminium composite like Dibond is also good. Stick with the Dunlops if they are in within your budget but the option is there to run a List 1a but I doubt you would get an advantage probably a tad worse but a lot cheaper and that was the thinking behind it all. You dont need headlining.

Nope, it only ran a couple of times with it in period- significantly once in an International permit race. Probably won't be of any benefit but looks good and would put car in more appropriate weight class in the proposed HSCC series.

Iain, thanks for the offer. Don't think headlining needed (or appropriate in a race car!) and as discussed any Mk1 Escort door cards would do- just spray them satin black like I did! Just checked- As Al says CTCRC doesn't require headlining and side trim must be 'original or equivalent material of the period'. So guess not ally then.

Iain, I think I have a couple of Mk1 Escort door cards in the garage, which I acquired when I bought Daniel's Mexico, I will check at the weekend. They are not perfect, but you can always use them as a template if not good enough. Let me know if you want them, I could bring them to The Ace for you.
