What's the Ugliest Car Ever?
Everyone is always talking about what they think is the "most beautiful car", but let's switch that over. What do y'all think is the hideous neandethal of sportscars? I realized there are probably hundreds of candidates, but what's the first one that springs to your mind? I would tell you what one of my most abhorred cars - but not THE most - is, but i think most of England would threaten me with bodily harm...Let's just say it rhymes with "organ"...

I remember the UOP Shadows from Can-Am...ugly...
Just as ugly in Can-Am was a car called the Caldwell, and I another was something like a King Cobra...both looked like bricks on wheels...awful-looking cars...not sure about the names and I only remember seeing a picture or two of them... |

It's hard to get over the looks of the Morgan, but that Doran car is pretty hideous. I find the Silk Cut Jag with the covered rear wheels rather butt ugly as well. Purple, white, and gold? Who were they pimpin'? Tasteless.

Well. in my opinion, 1980´s Rondeau Ford, surely the ugliest car to ever win lemans. I don´t like the "big airbox" renault of 1978 euther. As for tha Panoz Lmp07, i wouldn´t call it really ugly, but maybe strange, very strange.

Whilst I love them dearly, the various versions of the Mini Marcos which ran at Le Mans between 1966 and 1968 ought to be up there as some of the ugliest ever. In 1966, the French press described one of them as "Le chien blesse" or "the wounded dog"! But it finished....

There are loads! Here's a few that come to my mind:
-1955 (?) Nardi Twin-boom thing (probably more ridiculous than ugly!) -Bugatti T57c Tank (unusually hideous for a Bug - I reckon it pips the 1980 Rondeau as ugliest Le Mans winner, though I'd still have one!) -The Morgan Aero 8 is awful and has usurped the Panoz as my least favourite modern sportscar (in aesthetic terms) Strangely, the 1953 Le Mans seems to provide many candidates: -The Trintignant/Shell Gordini looked like a slab of metal with a wheel at each corner and 4 lights stuck to the front. -The Index winning (? - #61 anyway) DB Panhard. -UGLIEST OF ALL - the Bristol 450 coupe (they improved it the following year and it was successful in its class, but the '53 car was SOOOOOO ugly). I wish I could put some pictures of these up, but haven't yet worked it out properly, so if anyone has some, please post them and prove me right (or wrong!) |

On the Morgan...
The only things that make the Morgan ugly are the shape of the hard top and the rear wing, and the latter is necessary to be remotely competitive... as a modernized "retro-look" roadster for the street, it looks the way it should... But the wing really does take away from its looks... |

I've always thought the early 80s Aston Martin Nimrods at Le Mans were ugly, (the ones which needed the Taxi sign on top to hit the min. height regulations for the windscreen)! They looked far too long, fat and altogether ungainly. The later ones were far better looking.

I love the Morgan !
 The last year 'worst' (but I still like them) for me were the RFH Dome, the Joest Audis, the AutoExe, all for the painting ; but the bodyworks are OK... Cannot see real ugly recent cars... Last edited by Fab; 1 Apr 2003 at 15:42. |
