We thought, at the end of last season, that the BTCC debacle couldn't get any worse - it had lost all but three of it's manufacturers, as well as three support events - but it has.
Do you think that TOCA and BMP can work together to get things back on track, or will the MSA's decision not to renew TOCA's contract be the death of the series in the UK ? It doesn't look promising - the fact that no-one seems to have even thought about what the new rules package will be is indicative of a series in crisis. |

Yeah, what's the deal? Down here in Australia we get different reports on the BMP & TOCA thing ever second day. Can someone tell us what is really happening??

It will be hard for them to get it back on track. But I really hope theydo.

I don't know if they can do it - but this season is looking like a solid foundation for the future.

God this thread is miserable!
Let me remind everyone that the BTCC already has three works teams this year (if you count MG), Peugeot are already confirmed for next year, and MG for a further two I think. Vauxhall are on the verge on extending their contract with Triple Eight beyond this year, while Ford or Volvo will probably enter. Given the fact that the ETCC is going to run to near BTCC rules, we could see Nissan, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Volvo and SEAT (V.A.G.) models in the BTCC funded by the British importers, or just a privateer team. |

Baering in mid this year the BTCC was the only championship in the world to apopt the new rules, i dont think they've done too badly. I do, however, feel their is a need for many more Touring Cars (both manufacturers and privateers), asnd less emphasis on Ptroduction. However, with the ETCC adopting the same (virtually) rules, this will attract new manufacturers, and i think manhy privateers will make the 'jump' into the Touring category as well. Next year and beyond Touring Cars will become big again, not as big as it was, i fear, but certainly big enough!

Cor blimey! whatever happened to good old Mr Fatbloke?
Can they get it back on track? Yup I think they have gone a long way towards that goal. More manufacturers would be good, more teams in the touring class are badly needed, but I wouldn't knock the production racers though. These guys are providing some classic racing right now. |

I agree - don't knock the production guys. O'Neill, Pyper, Boardman, John B&Q (!) are providing some superb entertainment at the moment. And Annie is just cooool.

Perhaps the good people of Ten-Tenths are just missing his incisive wit, intelligence and humour.
Or not. |
