[BTCC] The 2013 BTCC Predictions Thread

[Craner Curves]

We've had this sort of thread for a few years now. Just make 5 predictions about the 2013 season before the first rounds and see if they come true at the end of the season! They can be serious, tongue-in-cheek or both!

I'll begin

1. Honda and Honda drivers will win the overall title, teams, manufacturers, indies and indie teams titles.
2. Jason Plato will win the most races, but suffer from too many incidents and reliability issues to deny him the title.
3. The new BMW 125i will get it's maiden win at Croft.
4. Joe Girling will be the only Chevrolet to get a top 10 race finish.
5. Dave Newsham will be top Toyota driver.

[Speed-King]

1. WSR will need some time to get their BMW's to the front of the field.
2. People will complain about boost and RWD advantage.
3. Rob Austin will get a win this year.
4. Liam Griffin will take the Jack Sears Trophy
5. Matt Jackson will be the top Indy driver.

1. Team HARD will have the most DNFs of all the teams
2. Turkington will be Indy Champ
3. RWD will be the new boost (complaint after complaint)
4. Shedden will have at least one quali or race lost by overboosting
5. Rob Austin, Sam Tordoff, Adam Morgan and Dan Welch will get a win each this season

1. Smith will be the highest points scorer at Airwaves racing
2. There will be at least one podium of non english drivers
3. The jack sears trophy will come right down to the wire and is decided in race 30
4.There will be an S2000 race win
5. There will be atleast one driver between Sheddon and Neal at the end of the season on the points table

1. The overall drivers champion will score the most points from 30 races.
2. A driver in a S2000 car will in the Jack Sears Trophy.
3. Both Matt Neal and Jason Plato will cause controversy with the fans during 2013.
4. The officials will again make inconsistant decisions during 2013.
5. There will be at least one wet race during 2013.
6. There will be at least one dry race during 2013.

But best of all, I will attend ALL races during 2013.

1. Despite a 32-car entry list, at no point do 32 cars actually start a BTCC race this year
2. Adam Morgan will win a race
3. At least one race will be awarded half points/cancelled/moved to the Saturday of the next weekend due to adverse weather conditions
4. Dan Welch will win a race
5. At least one of Team HARD's entered drivers will at some stage end up racing for a different BTCC team during the year

1: Something will happen that causes an argument about Plato.
2: Something will happen that causes an argument about the regulations.
3: Something will happen that causes an argument about the marshals at some incident or another.
4: Something will happen that causes an argument about the driving standards of every driver in the whole BTCC package.
5: Andy Neate will do something silly,

1. We'll have at least one meeting where race 1 starts with 24 (or fewer) cars
2. At least one car will have a rollover incident
3. One NGTC team will pull out during the season
4. Round 1 will see four cars in the trap at Paddock Hill Bend on the first lap
5. Two driver will come to blows - but not Neal & Plato

Blimey. That's all a bit on the down side, isn't it? In the interests of balance, here's the happier ones:

1. We'll have a first-time champion
2. One race will be won by an S2000 car
3. The WSR Beemer will dominate several meetings
4. Both Wrathall and Newsham will win more than one race each
5. Turkington will win all three races at Donington

Now, where's that pie gone...?

1. Turkington will finish over his teammate Collard with gap no bigger than 70 points.
2. Newsham will be placed 4-6 at the end of season.
3. On four occasions a "triple-podium for one driver at one weekend" will happen (counting multiple times when it happens for two drivers at one weekend).
4. The driver leading in the points at the summer break won't win the championship.
5. 12 different drivers will have at least one race win.

1. Onslow-Cole will leave Team Hard mid season and rejoin WSR in a 4th Beemer
2. Btc racing will appear once and withdraw from the championship
3. 6 drivers will be mathematically be able to win the championship at the final round
4. Aron Smith will win more than 3 races
5. Frank Wrathall will finish in the top 3 of the championship

1. Start line crash will happen this year (just make sure all drivers walk away before giving a point to me)
2. we will have no new champion
3. we will have new winners
4. Matt Neal & Jason Plato tangle again on the track
5. title to be decided at Brands Hatch GP

1, Plato will fire off at least 3 cars over the course of the season.
2, At least 2 teams will miss Knockhill.
3, Dave Newsham will get a podium.
4, An S2000 car will finish ahead of an NGTC car at least once in the season.
5, The RML / IP Tech built Cruze will be a top car.

1. At least one of the Team HARD cars won't make Brands Hatch Round 1
2. Dave Newsham will win two races
3. No one will be able to win all 3 races in one day this season
4. A Toyota driver will be a top 3 championship finisher at end of the year.
5. Mat Jackson will win championship!

2. The Civics will lock out the podium at least twice.
3. Turkington will win at least three races.
4. Andrew Jordan will get one win.
5. At least 3 regular cars will not go to the Knockhill round.

1. All correct.
2. Correct - 8 wins.
3. Maiden win at Donington.
4. Never even got a point, never mind a top ten
5. Beaten by Morgan. Who'd have thunk it?!

Well in the end it's not that surprising. His rivals, Oli Jackson has not exactly set the world on fire in anything he's been in, Dave Newsham is, in my opinion, over-rated due to his dominance in a very subpar Clio series, and Frank Wrathall, well, I think he's had a lot of other things on his mind this year and it's shown.

Yes, but this was based on what we knew in March. And that was Morgan having a shocker in 2012 and Newsham punching above his weight in the old Vectra. Had it been a week later, I'd have had a very different opinion.

Oh of course, I wasn't suggesting there was anyway you could have known, just that it's surprising how these things sometimes turn out the last way you'd have expected.

still he did get pole and 2 wins in an very old Vectra in a subfinanced team with very "excentric" team boss

you can't say that he is mediocre , there are plenty of other drivers who get that title

4. Well he got DQd at least once but i cant remember what for

you can't say that he is mediocre , there are plenty of other drivers who get that title

Realistically the Clio Cup field in the year he won was extremely shallow, and in the two years proceeding up against stronger rivals he didn't do so well.

I'm not saying he's a bad driver, just that he's not a great driver either.

1 - yup... what was the most? 27?
2 - Nope, but he had a good season
3 - Had it not been the last weekend of the season I wonder if yesterday's racing might have been postponed...
4 - Not even close
5 - Yup thanks to TOC jumping ship to Airwaves
