Apologies for Lack of Instant Sebring Coverage

My credentials, as it turned out, did not give me anywhere to hook up my computer. The whole credentials thing down there was a bit like Kafka gone mad. But I did come back with all the material in my notebook and on tape, and will be providing it over the course of the week to come.

I was also not able to get the newsletter out this week for the same reason. Normal publication will resume this week.

Sebring was great fun and I have lots to tell.

No. I did meet several members of 10-Tenths though, including a racing team that frequents our site.

I daresay Dr. Austin was in his hotel room watching Brand X Racing, as he appears to believe it is the best racing in the world.

Remember that Penske team you used to like Liz? Apparently they are doing pretty well...

ah never mind that, Long Beach is coming soon! Liz, hope you had a good trip, can't wait to hear about it! I'm new to sports cars, but watch it whenever (for some reason) they show AMLS or similar on ABC...

In the meantime, I've had plenty of work to do... One more month!

Actually, we had a death in the family last week and there were more important things to do than go to the race. But thanks for your consern.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Dr. Austin. Further Deponent Saith Naught.

===================

The sports car scene is exciting and getting more so all the time, Jay. Oddly enough there is no gloom and doom among the IMSA people. I felt almost lost when dealing with people who were actually enjoying themselves at a race!

There will be an interview with the members of a team who are 10-Tenthers, in this weekend's newsletter, and a longer and more detailed interview with a driver from Toronto in next week's issue. I'm also working on an article concerning the IMAX movie "Top Speed" which will star among others Lucas Luhr of Alex Job Racing. I may have to see that one more than once. I've also got a tape of the post-qualifying and post-race press conferences and would be happy to transcribe it and make it available if there's interest. Frank Biela has quite a sense of humour when not sharing the podium with Pirro; and Capello could go into stand-up comedy any time.

The one press conference I'd have liked to tape I didn't get though -- and that was the totally unscheduled one by Team Konrad Saleen, the 2nd place GTS team. When told by the guardians of the Press Room "We are only interviewing the winners", the team, led by one Terry Borcheller, coolly sat down at the press table and conducted their own press conference, much to the dismay of those who had other plans! I will not say Mr. Borcheller was suffering from road rage, but I will venture to guess that if he'd been a cussing man, there would not be a whole bone left in the bodies of some people....

P.S. I think one of those guys formerly known as Team Penske has completely lost his mind. Someone sent me a quote by him which he stated that the fact that his current car is slower and without a turbo will make the racing better.....
