I found these specifications for the new DTM in the latest issue of Road & Track...
Two door coupe with minimum 10,000 unit per year homologation Racecars must use original steel body with added carbon fiber aero package and wheel arch extensions. Overall length to be within 170.0 inch and 185.0 inch. Minimum weight 2315 pounds. Engine: 4.0 liter production derived 90 degree V8 block. Minimum weight of engine 364 pounds. Engine sealed for season, only one spare allowed per race. Use of spare engine negates qualifying effort for that race. Chassis: tubular steel spaceframe. |

Not to mention cheap
According to the Autosport article, the 10M pound annual budget that is now spent by an average Works BTCC team can buy you 8 DTM cars versus the 3 ST cars you now can get.
It also said something about one engine having to last the entire racing season. |
