No, but run a search and you'll find a long thread on the subject in this forum.

It was back page news on the Ipswich Times about 12 months ago with a Motard circuit the first stage.

Yet he'll entertain those handful of fans seen in Bahrain and Shanghai..

The point was, the idea of him only coming here for a street event when he goes to Bahrain and Shanghai which are permanent facilities seems rather hypocritical. The government pays him the money, so why should he care how the circuit is given his standards.

Well that is what he has said on multiple occasions. Remembering this is Bernie Ecclestone, so calling him a hypocrite is hardly the worst accusation ever levelled against, and hardly the worst thing he has actually done.

Secondly, Australia is known for being picturesque, even in its cities. Bahrain is known for being a desert, Shanghai for being a bit grotty. Not exactly good street circuit material.

Thirdly, since the US finally got rid of its tendency for street circuits the Australian Grand Prix is one of just two street circuits on the calendar. You might find there is a certain desireability in not letting that number drop further.

It is back in 2008. This is only year it is not being held, mainly because of change of venue i would imagine.

Mainly because the sort of expansion plan the FIA had in mind with the candidate rally process fell in a heap when the factory teams refused to attend an increased calendar, so three events had to be cancelled and re-instated on a rotational basis as the WRC now had over 20 events for a 16 event calendar. Australia misses out this year and it returns 2008 in Queensland. Western Australia had to be threatened with breach of contract to run it in 2006 they wanted 2005 to be the last and then attempted to sabotage other states bidding for it.

Hey dont forget that a group of people one of which is the area mayor are in the process of getting a new multi purpose Motor complex up and going out near Esk! Talking to them about a year ago they have a heap of land and ground works were under way ready for international street circuit for all types of Bikes and cars, also speedway, drags, go karts, jet boats.

have not been invovled much lately on the happening will try and find out anything new on this project.

There are now FIVE circuits in SEQ on the go, as well as Esk, there is Kilcoy, Boonah I think and one other... then there is the return of Lakeside, Townsville street circuit, Queensland Raceway being lengthened, Morgan Park being lengthened, a kart track out the front of Roma Street Station in Brisbane CBD, Bunbury, Oran Park Mk. II, Homebush, the Bathurst short course, a permanent facility near Canberra, Gippsland, Cronulla Street Circuit, Freemantle street circuit, Woomera Air Strip circuit, Auckland street circuit, Wellington revival, how about a permanent circuit at McMurdo Sound? It'd be cold and a bit slippery, but noise complaints would be hard to come by...

I think it is unlikely the Norwell proposal will get off the ground.

And it'd make Canberra in June look like the bikini weather of the Gold Coast Indy event

If 'Happy Feet' is anything to go by there'd be plenty of spectators. Even if several hundred of them sound like Robin Williams. They'd insist on wearing tuxes instead of team merchandise though.
