Isn't he driving one of the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferraris? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I receive this today, enjoy it:
Babini, the official Pirelli Driver is ready to hit the track with JMB Racing USA when they launch their 2-car assault on the 12 Hours of Sebring. Among his many victories, he holds the most prestigious titles having won his GT class at both Le Mans 24 Hours and the 24 Hours at Daytona. Capturing a podium finish at the 12 hours of Sebring, along with a first place at Silverstone, and podium finishes at Pergusa and Donnington in the FIA GT Championship last year, Babini will be a hard act to follow for the other drivers on course. In official Pirelli tests conducted at Homestead with the JMB Racing USA Team last month, Babini displayed his talent for speed and endurance. Team Manager Carl Philippe Denis was quoted as saying "I am impressed with Babini's work ethic, concentration and speed. I am enthused to have Fabio as one of our drivers, Sebring being such an arduous race. I am sure that he will once again prove to be an indispensable part of a winning team. " JMB Racing USA has committed to a full-season run in the American Le Mans Series this year. Carrying on JMB Racing's close relationship with Pirelli, JMB Racing's USA Team looks forward to a long lasting, and productive relationship with the Italian tire powerhouse here in the US for many years to come. |

I think he's in line for one of the JMB Competition FIA GT entries, not Scuderia.

well, they will also run a pair of 550's (then 575's later on in season)- in fiagt

Yes, my mistake, it seems that Fabio Babini will be pedalling one of Jean-Michel Bouresche's Ferrari 550s, until the new 575Ms are ready. This should prove interesting... so how good do we think Babini is? A race-winner in GTs? After all, JMB is a good team.

You've heard me say it before, but Babini rocks. He's up there with Maassen and Ortelli IMHO. I just hope he doesn't drive the JMB 360s because, well, I don't think they're very good...

High praise indeed, Osella. I think Ortelli is one of the most mysteriously underrated drivers in the world - he won Le Mans, for crying out loud! - but has been, I suspect, a victim of Porsche's absence from sportscars in a factory capacity. I think if there were still a pair of Porsche prototypes being run, he and Maassen would be in them. Maybe Dalmas and Kelleners too.
