Well said Luke, although it appears that the road is the only place they will be racing. Need to get the cars adaptable for ovals and have at least two ovals - PLEASE!

I agree with you. Lolas and Reynards from the 1998-2002 period... great!
I'm actually doing a diecast car for Oriol ServiÃ*, transforming a 2000 Lola into a 2002 one, and I've been able to see how much slimmed down and trimmed the car truly is. No wonder it helped bury the Reynards...

However, I'm all for the Panoz. Let's hope it has a good birth, without many teething problems. I remember the Dallara GP2 cars having brake and electronic problems at their first races, if I recall correctly. A reliable car like the Lola has been is what is needed.

Can't wait to see the DP01 on track, what a great looking car. It will look awesome in the Rahal-Letterman colors.

Hehehe....I was thinking about the different IRL liveries during the Milwaukee race the other night and picturing them on the DP01. It was blissful!

Since they don't have it in Nascab anymore, Viagra could be a sponsor.

Who the driver would be I will leave alone.

How about some energy drinks as sponsors. Red Bull can't have all the fun. A Monster or Rockstar car would be cool!

The New Champcar is coming

http://www.champcarworldseries.com/N...e.asp?ID=10651

Quote:
A bit young to have a life story, the new Panoz DP01 Champ Car will have the events leading up to its unveiling chronicled by Traveling Light, as the award-winning company announced that it would be producing a documentary surrounding the new chassis.

Traveling Light, who produced the exhilarating video that preceded the unveiling of the new Champ Car, will crate an upcoming documentary special on the creation and building of the newly designed, next generation Champ Cars. The show will detail the new car not only to its unveiling, but beyond the ceremony to the continued development of the car. An airdate has not yet been set, but Adam Friedman, President of Traveling Light, is currently in discussions with The Discovery Channel and The History Channel, among others.

Pictures on the Speed article are best:
http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/champcar/29810/

It's better than I thought it would look. It's still boxy and nowhere near as graceful looking as the Lola B2K or Reynard 02I...but hey, at some point they have to change the car huh?

I would just like the nose to be a smidge lower......not a fan of higher noses. And sadly it is paddle shift.

What will the engine specs be, just the same as now more or less?

It looks ideal for street races...which is hwere this series has been going for quite a while now...

and I like it a lot better than the current Lolas that have the big gaping gills on thel that make them look like a fish that should have a hook in its mouth.

I think it looks fantastic! I can't wait to see 24 of them on the grid at Las Vegas in 2007.

My only qualms are the paddle-shift and the high nose - but I guess I can deal with them...

TBH about the paddle shifting, didn't Ferrari bring that in in 1990ish? I know everyone likes manual but atleast its semi automatic and its hardly new technolgy...

I just liked that Champ Car still had a proper shifter against all of the paddle-shifting series' around the world. It was quaint.

agreed, i think its one of the best lookin single seaters out there, if not the best put a picture of it next to the lola yesterday and it makes the lola look prehistoric! still have a soft spot for the old reynard and swift though!
