This is great news! Another (hopefully strong) team to add into the mix. Just keep them coming!

Surprise announcement and good news. We still have the minardi team and others out there working deals as well as possible 3rd cars at PKV and NH.

Hopefully there will; be many more before long. Still, it means nothing until they've started a few races, remember BC and Brand?

At a time when car counts are pretty low, the announcement of additional cars is always good news.
The reality of the situation is that PCM is not currently a top flight team in Grand Am, and they weren't in ALMS previously. I doubt that they will be a strong team in CCWS, at least for a few years. Having said that, every series needs some backmarkers. |

Paul Stoddart continues to wander about talking about fielding a team, which he has done since he owned Minardi. If you all recall, there was the idea that folks like him would have a sort of "junior" team in what was then CART (iirc) sort of like some did with F3000.
Please let us keep in mind that Stoddart has not had the most successful record in the business world and that any proclamation by him not accompanied by a properly executed and signed sponsorship deal that includes a Cashier's check guaranteeing the funds should be taken with an enormous grain of salt. I will be happy to say: "I was wrong" should Stoddart show up with an actual team next season AFTER it has raced the entire schedule. In the meantime having watched his antics in F1 lo these many years he can make all the "statements" he wants. Believe them at your own risk. Further, the whole "silly season" is rife with announcements that are actually rumors. If you look at threads from past years you will see "confirmed" car counts in the mid-twenties. As the line in the movie goes: "Show me the money...!" Last edited by JohnSSC; 4 Sep 2006 at 15:37. |

He has had a rather spectacular bankruptcy with his airline that resulted in much unhappiness among the former employees (I am remaining vague here as I do not have the details at hand) and I am not sure the litigation has ended as of yet.
The F1 effort was very underfunded and my point is that Stoddart talks a lot, so he would need to demonstrate some solid details before I go and check the "confirmed" box for Stoddart next season. |

In respect to the thread subject, the PCM annoucement, good to see a new team on board. Also good to see several leads generated for 2007, hope a few more come onboard for the long haul.

You may have a dislike for Stoddart but check the facts first. |

I did check the facts, that is why I am not exited about this "new" team. Stoddart is always "in talks" and often nothing results.
I am simply saying that imho, with his record, I will consider a team run by him as a possibility when I see some ink on a contract. |

All mountainstar said was "We still have the minardi team and others out there working deals". Which pretty much just repeats a rumour that is/was around.
Think most people take it at face value, that being a deal is being looked into by Stoddart but nothing beyond that at this stage. I don't believe Stoddart's previous business dealings have any bearing on whether a deal is put together. |

I actually wrote a long rebuttal to john about the minardi deal, but lost my internet connection and ended up losing everything I wrote
I'm not going to bother again, except to say Stoddart is looking at doing a deal involving Muermans, a current Coyne sponsor and a former Minardi sponsor. |

I will wait until the seaon starts before I truely believe in what PCM is saying. If NH doesn't have full sponsorship, why would PCM? I suspect they may be a one car effort or something. Remember Jensen? Everyone was certain that they were for real.
Anyone who becomes as welthy as Stoddart cannot be considered a failure, even if they lose it. Quickly growing a business involves a lot of risk, but for those who succeed there are big rewards. I hate to use this example because he's a prostitute, but Donald Trump has had how many bankruptcies? |

I would not define the word "success" by using Donald Trump or Paul Stoddart as an example of same.
Mere accumulation of wealth is not the primary measure of human success. This, however is a topic for Parc Ferme... |

Stoddart said his biggest problem is uprooting his family or commuting, to the U.S.
