The COAT - Round Two - Mercedes AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ vs Williams FW07

The twelfth match in Round Two sees the Mercedes AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ up against the Williams FW07.

The Mercedes took a 4-2-1 win over the Red Bull RB6 and Bugatti T251 in the first round, with the Williams taking a 6-1 win over the McLAren MP4-30.

Mercedes AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ (hotcars.com):
As mentioned previously, sometimes too much winning will lose its value amongst fans. Formula One fans can understand this very well now with Mercedes AMG destroying Ferrari [in 2019] in their W10.

For the first eight races of [2019], Mercedes won all of them. It took Ferrari up until the end of the summer break to win their first race at the Belgian Grand Prix. The AMG F1 W10 [was] just so far ahead of the competition. Though it may struggle in certain places, such as straights or hot-weather tracks, the amazing drivers and skilled Mercedes team work on and improve any mistakes.

As a result, Mercedes [...] clinched the 2019 Constructor's championship. Now, all that's left is to see if Bottas can keep up with the likes of Lewis Hamilton.

Williams FW07/D (bleacherreport.com):
Another six-wheeler, this time from Williams. While the Tyrell was the original, the Williams took the six-wheel concept and made it much more aesthetically pleasing. Rather than having a huge sets of rear wheels and four (comparatively) tiny fronts, the Williams was more symmetrical, with all the tyres a similar size.

The concept was also different. What the four rear wheels provided was a narrower overall profile for he car, thereby decreasing the drag created by huge rear wheels whilst still increasing the contact patch of the tyres.

The result was huge traction and grip that Williams hoped would compensate for their lack of a turbo engine as used by its competitors.

Through testing, Williams developed modified versions of both the FW07 car and the FW08, both of which showed great promise despite their huge length and weight.

But before the car could even be raced, the FIA announced that all F1 cars should have a maximum of four wheels, and so died the last of the six-wheelers.

Gonna give it to the W10. Although the FW07 beats it in terms of longevity
