I always love the photos of the tired and dirty car near the podium.

They finally did it! Looks like the way to break Toyota's Le Mans curse was to add the only other motorsport entity that's as unlucky as they are, so much bad luck was just too much for one place and canceled itself out

Yeah, it's brilliant that they finally achieved their goal after years of trying! Rusinov finally got the LMP2 win!

The can stow 'The Coach" thing, which seemed rarely to be genuinely on topic. Did TK say that this would be the first Japanese victory in the last 'Coach' episode? |

I wanted to see the podium too, but velocity cut it off. I can't believe Toyota has finally won. Such cruel luck to them and now it's finally happened! Fitting that it was Kazuki Nakajima that brought it home for them also. Redemption for 2016 definitely when he was just minutes away from the same feat. Historic day for Toyota. Congrats to everyone else too, but obviously the biggest news is Toyota finally getting their win after more than 30 years.

Congrats to Toyota...though perhaps a somewhat "hollow" victory?

Great wins, well deserved : Toyota, who came back after Porsche left the championship, and G-Drive in LMP2. About GTE, I'm still sceptical about the balance of performance. I think two GT categories could be created : light GTs (Atmo engine) and GTO, like in IMSA 30 years ago.

That was hardly a classic race. Literally a 2 car race for the win, when in all honesty there was only going to be a #8 car winning.
It did strike me as bit of a farce for the #7 to lose a lap towards the end, one way to engineer a good finish line photograph without putting the #8 at risk. During the race I was going to book tickets for the Silverstone 6hrs with the discount code of 'RLM10' but having watched this race I won't be bothering when it is too one-sided. I hope the LMP1 non hybrids are given a BOP break to let them have at least a sniff of a win because at the moment why would they bother to turn up when they don't stand a chance of the overall or LMP1 win. |

If they had failed to win again, we would be hearing a different story. Now as to whether it was a great race is a different matter.

A win gets a bunch of people calling it hollow because ''no competition'' and had they lost they would've been mocked for losing against a bunch of privateers. Should they not have competed? They pretty much saved the WEC by staying. |

Fantastic and well deserved win for the TS050 and also for the Porsche GT team.
Overall though I'm very disheartened by the direction that the ACO has taken the event. Things like mandated stint lengths, constant BOP/EOT adjustments and less emphasis on tire strategy due to the new refueling rules have really negatively affected the multi layered nuances that Endurance racing once had. The ACO is seemingly adopting the IMSA style approach to racing. A philosophy of near total control of everything by the series organizers, rather than allowing the race to be decided by the teams, strategists, race engineers and drivers. Ironically the more the organizers try to make racing artificially close and "fair" for everyone, the more it becomes kind of boring. I grew to love sports car racing mostly because of how real and open the competition was. We've pretty much lost that here in the US and now were losing it a Lemans too. |

I wonder how many pages in Autosport will be dedicated to McLaren driver Fernando Alonso winning at Le Mans this week. No mention of 2 horse race or team mates, just Alonso.

It was a proper endurance race though. That is the most important thing. You could not say that about the Daytona 24 from 2014-2017 with all of their safety car periods.
Yes there are issues with EOT and for Le Mans specifically the slow zones which gifted the #92 pink Porsche an advantage they did not deserve. But they did not blow it though so props to them. At least Estre/Vanthoor/Christensen was the best driving team/car on the day still. Margin of victory was bigger than it should have been. |

Well loads of course. We know that already. Is it worth getting our knickers in a twist about though? No. If it persuades a few F1 fans to come and experience Le Mans next year, it's probably worth it. |

As hollow as all the Audi's wins from 2000-2006, 2010, 2012 but no one talks about how one sided it was anymore and at one point GT1 Corvette was it's main competitor. Win is a win and that's all it matters.
Toyota should grab another one next year cause it's on a plate. |
