Here's a link to Bodysnatcher's Google Maps version of Silverstone. Google Maps hasn't yet caught up with the track changes so the "new" Arena part of the circuit is hand drwan!

There's a pretty good set of maps in the officials booklet linked above - one showing flag points (page 3) and the other incident posts/coverage (page 8).

FIA lights for me this year, so don't yet know whereabouts I will be on circuit yet, which is a bit of a bummer.

That list is just what the doctor ordered. I know I go to silverstone a lot during the season, but for a new trainee or someone who does not go very often it is a good guide. Maybe something to have at sign on.

Just a suggestion.

Yes to the first bit - and as a rough guide it is the post about 100m up track direction of new pits exit - on the drivers right side of circuit.

For those who are seasoned veterans of the GP marshaling,

Roughly how big are the camping plots ? just deciding on weather its worth taking a gazebo etc and our current tent is quite big 6 man about 7 meters long

Also whats it like marshaling at Village..? it looks good and i hear its the first true braking point

Cheers guys, Richard

Campsite pitches are usually about 8 x 8 or similar - I doubt you'll get your tent and the gazebo on one pitch unless your neighbours aren't using their spot.

If you're taking a gazebo bear in mind that the camping field is very exposed and is often very windy - flying gazebos are quite common and if your gazebo damages someone else's tent/car/caravan/camper etc you will be VERY unpopular. You need to make sure that you can bolt it down so that it doesn't move if you're not there all day.

Cheers guys, Richard
just to touch up what piglet has said.
we had a gazebo last year, even tho we had it secured down on all 4 corners, it bent one of the extension bars on the inside.
all depends on how much you paid for it and is it worth the risk,
you might be lucky and have no wind, but i doubt it

It is the first breaking point (when the newer start line is used) so is a great post. Also, you get the cars driving all the way around the post as they tackle the Loop so very noisy & potentially very busy!

It would seem that emails have gone out from IMS to the marshals doing the Thursday systems checks.
