My "Cuore Sportivo" rejoices that you'll be running an Alfa engine

I don't think you'll regret it - they are pretty tough motors!

I've done several Alfa cylinder heads recently, they clearly work and sound great, but most 'tuned' heads I've seen are from the last century, all revs and no torque!

All revs and no torque!

Typically Italian, like their army, discharge the weapon early and roll over for a snooze. Uncle Enzo said, BHP sells cars, torque wins races!

Lack of torque on the 2 litre is often due to the flywheel weight as you for sure know. No doubt is has been the best production engine of its era but when it comes to severe alterations the power figures are somewhat disappointing. Hard to read more than 143 HP for a compliant FIA Group 1 and if you hit the 180 HP barrier for an affordable Group 2 you must be happy. The way it delivers torque and its reliability are enjoyable. OK, I'm not a good judge for it, I'm in love with those cars and engines.

flywheels make no difference, the problem with Alfa ( and Lancia) heads is the ports are too big . . . . no low lift flow = horrible torque curve . . . . .also explains why the 'new' Alfa heads are made with smaller ports.

I've seen a fair few old school lotus heads done in a similar way, likewise V6 and Ford V8 heads . . . . 70's hot rod tuning!

Looks like enough power.....If you plan to race in the PNW, we have a good grid of cars to run with.
