Seb certainly made Lewis and Merc's job easier, but if you can avoid mistakes, as well as being fast you deserve the title. Just imagine if Fred had been in that Ferrari though
Anyway, it's finally happened, Christian Horner has actually praised Renault for good performance |

Thank you for posting! Now if only some of the wild claims of how the Red Bull failed could have such well-researched backup then we might be getting somewhere. |

I really don't know why people are judged based on what they do in the heat of the moment. Whenever people say 'sore loser' I say 'competitive person'. Being gracious in defeat is nice enough but no reason to judge people differently based on that.

not a huge Alonso fan but i do have to give it to the guy. walking into another team's garage, being reminded of the career choices (and lack of titles) that he made...not sure i could do the same.
i think im going to miss him when he's gone and would be nice to see the paddock give him a proper send off before his last race. Quote:
question would then be who could drive for STR for those races? |

Sauber actually just overhauled them in the last race. Doesn't look good for TR for the rest of the year after yet another disappointing 'update'.

yep should have looked at the table before posting! brain fade on my part....if i was paying more attention i would have given Sauber the nod for team of the race. 8 points and now ahead of STR made for a very impressive day for Sauber. and with Vandoorne's points, life just got harder for Racing Point/FI if they hope to pass Mclaren on the table. some very interesting team battles to look forward to in the next 2 races! |

I have no problem with someone being praised for being gracious in defeat or in victory. Especially when they are a competitive person. It is an admirable character trait.

I don't have any issue with it all and yes, it's good to see, I just don't see that they should be gushing about it the second someone sticks a microphone up their nose as soon as they've got their helmet off....

I suppose I care little for the immediate interview, or the cameras in the cool down room, or cameras in the changing room in field sports. So added bonus for making the agenda his.
I agree there is no need to over play this though and certainly no need to be negative about someone who isn’t immediately gracious. A positive when you do it, but understandable when you don’t as Sprinkles says. Of course if you sulk for days then you need to get over yourself. Still in this one, fair play to the guy. |

Yeah, I'm sure they all respect each other for the job they do. They are all doing something they love at the end of the day

I feel like, if this place didn't display where a person is from, I could easily tell by their opinion of Lewis. Yes, he's clearly great. He's also clearly charmed/ lucky too. (Picking the right teams at the right time, 50/50 incidents where he comes up roses more often than not, etc..) He's also a massive tool. Always staring at his phone is obnoxious. And does it not bother anyone else that, knowing his trainer or whatever she is has to follow his every move, he hops on a scooter and makes her chase him down at a sprint, while all the other drivers can make it without a scooter? The list goes on and on with him...
But I thought last year after Kimi missed the start of a race, that Ferrari will not win a championship as they are. They severely lack quality control measures to ensure dumb stuff doesn't happen. They make dumb decisions, which is why Vettel seemingly has to get more involved in running the team from the cockpit, which makes his job near impossible. I think Vettel had to do that though, because Ferrari the team is lacking when it comes to details. |

....and would for anyone else under that degree of scrutiny and of course it provides plenty of ammunition for those who choose to shoot it. I'm not getting at you when I say that, everyone's entitled to their opinion, whatever they choose to base it on.

Sure, anyone under that scrutiny would have a list, but not many are as long as Hamilton's. It's one douchy thing after another with him. Not even any other f1 driver is as bad.

I must admit.... Just one example..I do get a bit niggled when fans pay fortunes for race tickets to see the "show" and Lewis is more intent on staring at his phone while on the parade lorry...

The one that keeps gnawing at me is a clip from last year. He was walking through the paddock (with his trainer by his side, of course), head down staring at his phone with a hoodie on. A young fan comes up asking for an autograph, and his trainer shoos him away, not allowing autographs. Meanwhile, I just imagine he was posting on social media about all the great fans at the track that week, like he patronizingly mentions every post race interview, while shooting away/ignoring one of those "great fans" right in front of him. I mean, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to give an autograph all the time, but look up from the phone once in a while.

Hamilton gets greater media scrutiny than any other current driver. When he does something openly "good", the reaction is that he's just doing it for the publicity. When he does something deemed "bad", he's Satan.
When pretty much any other driver decides to ignore a kid because they're going to be late for a driver briefing, nobody sees that and they therefore think it doesn't happen. I wouldn't be Hamilton for double the money he earns. |

Hamilton invites the attention and scrutiny. He is a drama queen. Can't always be looking for cameras then complain when they catch something you don't like, or question your motivation. |

I judge Hamilton by his talent which is immense. But to me outside of that he's the most vapid person on the entire grid. I find it hard to judge him for his offtrack antics because I find it so hard to care.

I judge no motorsport people by their off-track actions (except in really rare circumstances, like attacking taxi drivers or smuggling drugs for example). If they're quick, they're quick, and if they want to wear crappy tartan trousers then more power to their elbows.

Also, Hamilton is all about that attention and does whatever he can to get it. Like the German gp, where he was all pouty and moody all weekend, lucksacks a win (back to that great luck he has), then gives weird interview with a bunch of cliches like "love conquers all", and needing to prove go his team what he could do. (Really? He still had to prove something to mercedes? Even after already resigning with them and multiple championships?) Pushing the car during qualifying? Looking like he was crying over the car for missing out on qualifying? I am fully expecting some sort of documentary about him centered around that time frame. Hence his hamming it up for the drama. Again, he gets questioned for his motives because of his own behavior and attsntion seeking. And his antics are forced onto us each week, making him insufferable. Also, the "happy off track is fast on track" commentary is pretty awful too. If he can't be bothered to do his job to the best of his abilities if he isn't allowed to go to all the parties he wants or whatever, then that is a character flaw on him and a work ethic issue. I have to say it, because it is true and this isn't some weird vendetta, he is one of the all time greats on track, regardless of his off track stuff. It is frustrating at times knowing you need some sort of mistake for someone else to have a shot, and knowing he ain't making mistakes. |
