Would anybody be interested in coming along to the Retro Rides Gathering at Prescott Hill climb with a Special Saloon or ex-Thundersaloon, as a way of promoting the Mallory and Donnington events?

I'm not sure how handy any of the cars would be up the hill, but would be great to see it happen.

I'm really keen to help out promoting historic motorsport in the UK and attendance of such. Also I'm keen to have awesome guest cars at the show, so I figure there is something there for everyone.

Any interest?

I did discuss bringing my Mk2 Fiesta Cosworth out after last years race ! Although I wasn't told No it had been implied that cars like mine and other modern interpretations of the theme were not really the direction they wanted to go !

Which is fine by me as I get to watch these fantastic cars ! I just wish I could say I'd raced with them :-)

potential car on ebay, if you search race car thundersaloons. i don't think it raced in Thundersaloons itself (maybe Formula Saloons), but is built in the 90's to those rules.

Great to see the Special Saloons running at Silverstone today, it brought back happy memories from my youth

The whole CSCC meeting was very friendly and entertaining.

I hope the Seven driver is OK and recovers quickly.

Firstly...i hope everything is OK with the poor guy who sustained injuries in the seven race..your'e heart always sinks when you see the air ambulance at a circuit.Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Secondly Please accept my apologies for the poor quality of the shots..i hope they convey the pure atmosphere that the old superloons create at a circuit.

We had a good day in the swinging sixties race with car 36, nothing fell off or broke and geoff really enjoyed a few dices with Joe ward in his lovely Grantura.

The highlight of the day though was Joe bringing out Baby Bertha for a particularly fab second race.

Thanks Joe and the other guys for keeping these cars and the memories alive.

Well done to everyone who turned out for the first race. There were 20 cars competing which was half the amount that turned up for the revival race at mallory.
5 cars were lost in the second race due to some breakdowns and failures. ( hope this is correct )

With the first race now been and gone, im hoping that a few more cars will be available for the next meeting. I personally feel a few drivers may have been put off by the circuit with the first race at silverstone. With no disrespect to the best circuit in the uk it is a big power track and the smaller cars would have had no chance.

Its probably no fun to have a 500hp car come in your mirrors hurtling around when you have nowhere near that power. I personally am not worried about this but i do think it effects the spectacle of the race from a watching point of veiw.

I think if we want this series to grow I wouldnt want spectators to be thinking 2 laps in that this isnt going to be exciting because the gaps in the cars is so spread out.

I do think everyone was very helpfull and i think its a must the drivers get envolved and not get to ahead of themselves. After all these cars havnt raced for many years and i feel we must bring a good spirit to the track.

As for myself I made some new friends and i was please with the mini. Unfortunatley we disturbed the dizzy cap on the first race which we wernt able to put right and when we got that right i made a mess exiting maggots and for some reason the car slipped sideways which put me onto the grass. I tried to gathermyself and increase my pace and get some experience but unfortunatley we suffered a clutch problem where we couldnt get any gears. Again a 2 minute job to put right. But thats racing hey.

well done to Andy (who didnt seem too happy) in the Black mini and stuarts imp for finishing both races. Hopefully a few drivers will ad there stories

I hope the circuit and weather didnt kill any cars.

I hope to see a few more cars out at the next meeting

Good luck
Mike

Thanks for an entertaining couple of races yesterday, thankfully not much for me to do other than do some blue flag waving......I was the lone marshal on your left hand side as you exited Becketts to go onto the straight.

A great series that bought back happy memories. I can't make their visit to my local circuit as it clashes with the Classic meeting but I will be seeing them again at Mallory later in the season.

Great shots and must have been a lovely day for them all to be out!! I was busy moving, bother, bother!!!!

That Sapphire looks vaguely familiar, did that used to be out in Classic Thunder a few years back? I remember a great battle between one and Neil Sampson's gorgeous Capri...
