7 for me too, all to Nico Rosberg for proving conclusively what a lot of bunkum motors and batteries are in F1 cars, even when severely handicapped by carrying all the energy recovery system junk around.
Hands up anyone who honestly believes that the cars wouldn't be both faster and more economical without the KERS system on board!

A very solid 8. The best of race of this season bar Bahrain. It had the inter-team battle between Rosberg and Hamilton, lots of moves down the grid(Button to 4th, Riccardio on Rosberg, etc.), Riccardio's first win and then the all mighty crash(which thankfully no one was hurt).

Hand up.

You only need to compare to last year. They have 30% better fuel efficiency. Do you honestly believe that is possible without KERS or similar? If so, why doesn't my road car have 30% better efficiency? Because it's not possible without energy recovery. The ICE simply isn't good/efficient enough.

Telling quote from Wikipedia, and look up the Carnot cycle.

"Most steel engines have a thermodynamic limit of 37%. Even when aided with turbochargers and stock efficiency aids, most engines retain an average efficiency of about 18%-20%.[9] Rocket engine efficiencies are much better, up to 70%, because they operate at very high temperatures and pressures and can have very high expansion ratios.[10] Electric motors are better still, at around 85-90% efficiency or more, but they rely on an external power source (often another heat engine at a power plant subject to similar"

i was there live and in person so an easy 10 for me!

the last 20 or so laps contained so much uncertainty which fed the crowd in an absolutely thrilling way. almost cant blame the race director for wanting to show the crowd as much as possible.

engine noise was still loud without being offensive imo. kids still needed earplugs and while it was easier to talk to those near you still had to raise your voice a tad to do so.

amazing to be reminded how much more fun a race is in person.

That's interesting about the engine noise, I was hoping someone here on 10-Tenths could tell us about that first hand. Can you hear the tyres squeal?

honestly cant say i heard too much tire squeal. maybe one or two times during a lock up going into the hairpin if there was no other traffic around...but i was sitting at the exit of the hairpin so maybe a little too far away for that sound to reach me.

for me the real thrill was really hearing the differences in engine sounds between manus and teams with the same engines. the renaults were far more muted then the mercs (which i must say sounded great).

Thank's for sharing this with us... It's encouraging to hear positive feedback from a fan that was at the race, I believe in time the FOM sound engineers will get the broadcast sound sorted out, it's not an easy task I am sure.

Excellent race, 9/10. Montreal is such a great venue for a gp. The track always serves up a good race and the city is so close and entirely dedicated to F1 for the whole week.
