Brian, you are right, of course (I have emailed you); I'm pleased that my memory has not failed me, completely. I cannot imagine anyone objecting to such a rare and pretty car joining this grid and its in the right ball park period wise and performance wise. I've reminded myself that since this is by invite only from me, it's not going to open up the floodgates to other cars. I'm truly tempted to create a small coupe class as long as it does not dilute the fastback concept which should form the major proportion of this grid. I'm completely open about this and will list at various stage the cars I have invited, so that you know what you may be sharing the grid with, but you should already know from the contents of this thread where I am coming from. Above all, I want this to be a fun race for like minded enthusiasts who because of the content of other race series don't get a chance to race together.

This has the makings of an excellent grid John - I hope your efforts pay off. Why not ask Claire to reduce her race - call it a 330 - and put two of yours on, I'm sure she wouldn't mind!
Might even be tempted to make the tortious journey to Snetterton myself at this rate. Last edited by gary396; 15 Mar 2016 at 08:10. Reason: typo |

Yeah, the 360 has to stay the 360. Mine's the support race and let's see what the entries are like on the day. Then if it proves the formula is right, or almost right, we might be able to develop it further. One step at a time.
My sort of ad hoc committee, who I've consulted almost from the start are Mike Bell, Brian Arculus and Joe, since they all had cars that I wanted to see there and understood my thinking ( I think!!) It maybe my race but it's yours too so constructive input, even by PM is welcome. I've decided that the Italia is definitely in and it opens up a few more potential coupes for this class. For example, as well as the fastback Harrington Alpines listed as eligible, Keith Hampson's lovely Le Mans Alpine would be welcome and I have already contacted him. |

John, I have no interest in this affair except as a potential spectator, however, my experience of committees tells me that the best have only one member. That way decisions can be made quickly and, acted upon without dissent. My advice (for what it is worth); dump Mike, Brian and Jo and crack on with your own ideas, worthy chaps they may be, but they might not all agree on some items and that is fatal. Frankly it is better to be a dictator. |

Ah, Bob, I knew that you would come up with something constructive.
I did say ad hoc! A benevolent dictator, I hope, but one who seeks the benefit of wise counsel even if he does not always heed the advice given!! Now back in your box, man, and no more distraction from the task at hand. |

Of course, one could suggest that all these cars should enter the 360............

Now, do we know of any Bond Equipe GTs racing? Also, although I've mentioned Harrington Alpines and seen a couple race over the years, I haven't yet identified the current owners. |

Well they are neither fastback nor coupe even with a top on. Great cars though but all rather too quick I feel. Once I've built the core of this grid up, I'll take a look at other specialist sports cars of the period but spec will be all important here and I doubt any G4 will be able to comply.

Yes, that's my memory of it too, Mike. Will try to locate the owner.

Having had a long chat with Claire, we have decided to, rather than reinstate her post, put out, in effect, a joint statement.
Claire is genuinely delighted by the positive response to this race, even being contacted direct (as I also have) outside of this thread, but is at pains to point out that it can only go ahead if the main 6 hour race gets sufficient entries to enable that also to take place. None of the potential entry of cars for the Revett Straight Cup are 6 hour cars, so they are not taking entries away from the main race. For most of them 6 hours represents a full season of racing. Outside of Spa there simply aren't enough owners/drivers of historic cars from this period prepared to enter such a long race. However, there is no reason why we shouldn't help Claire's drive towards entries for the main race by actively encouraging entries from friends and colleagues with suitable later cars. If you know anybody with a suitable car who is sitting on the fence, please try to persuade them to join in. Anyone with any type of BMW from the 80s and 90s, but particularly, I would have thought an E30 or E36, a Rover V8 or something a bit more eccentric, who wants a chance at a decent length endurance race where he/she can spread the cost with co drivers, should seriously consider the 360 race. It always runs with a great camaraderie and really deserves bigger grids that it has received in the past. The two races are mutually supportive. Claire needs a mininum number of cars for the 6 hours to make it financially viable and it really is in our interest to support this aim. Interestingly, the bigger our grid, the less that minimum number becomes, but we should be looking to get the biggest grid possible for both since by doing this it opens up further and future opportunities. In the case of the RevStrat, it's down to me to find enough cars and be persuasive enough to get as many of them as possible to enter. Entry forms will shortly be available on the 360MRC website but I'll let you know when. Last edited by John Turner; 17 Mar 2016 at 07:02. Reason: Typo! |

May I quote from 'Drop The Dead Donkey' ?
"In what circle of hell did Dante put the smug bas**ards." Sorry chaps but I rarely read John T's post, as they usually have something derogatory to say about me. Alright I'll shut up!! PS: You could have commented the fine quality of the photography. |
