However, the racing budget for WTCC that N-Tech has is not comparable to a racing budget for BTCC. It may be that racing in WTCC is not that far away budget-wise from racing and developing in BTCC.

Also, you have to remember TD have 2 pay drivers, N Tech I assume are paying Thompson a decent salary.

That is a fair chunk of budget that N Tech have to find themselves just to run.

I think that is more due to the ability of the current drivers.. Matt Neal has been the only driver to be able to set-up the Civic!

Which is why Steve Neal is interested in Tommo!

Not as much as you think!

Maybe then the driver/car combo is wrong. Neal hasn't been that great at setting up the Vectra so far (compared to Gio). Chilton wasn't great in the Vectra either, so I definitely feel his standards are relatively low, but I still feel that Shedden would be a title contender in the right car.

Renowned Honda engine tuner Mugen will take over the engine development for the N-Technology/JAS Motorsport Honda Accord's in the World Touring Car Championship. The race engines will be supplied to the team through the 100% owned M-Tech UK subsidary Mugen Euro Co., Ltd.

Only 4 events to go and JAS/N.technology is switching engine supplier....can we still hope for a factory Honda entry next season? Otherwise why switch engine supplier?

Engine upgrade is only for last 2 races:

MUGEN PARTICIPATION IN THE FIA WORLD TOURING
CAR CHAMPIONSHIP (WTCC)
Following the existing co-operation with JAS Motorsport, renowned HONDA Touring Car
preparation Company, Mr. Shin Nagaosa – President of M-TEC Co., Ltd of Japan (hereinafter
referred to as “MUGEN”) - announces that MUGEN-prepared WTCC HONDA race engines
will be exclusively supplied to J.A.S. through 100% owned M-TEC UK subsidiary MUGEN
EURO Co., Ltd.
The Honda Accord Euro R racing car chassis has been developed by J.A.S. Motorsport and
is entered and run in the World Touring Car Championship by top Italian team N. Technology.
However, in order to make a further performance upgrade to the car being driven by
highly-experienced British Touring Car champion James Thompson, MUGEN has agreed to
take up the WTCC engine development work for the last two races of this season with
MUGEN EURO providing the circuit technical support to the team.

J.A.S.Motorsport is a successful competition car constructor with its headquarters in Arluno
near Milan in Italy and since 2007 has collaborated with great results with MUGEN EURO
concerning the new FIA Gr-R rally specification Honda Civic Type-R car, using engines
developed by MUGEN. Based on these and past achievements, MUGEN has had no
hesitation in enthusiastically agreeing to J.A.S.Motorsport’s request to further deepen the
relationship and include the supply of WTCC gasoline engines.
MUGEN engines will be installed in James Thompson’s Honda Accord in time for the "FIA
WTCC Race of Japan" which is to take place on October 24th/26th 2008 at Okayama
International Circuit and also for the "FIA WTCC-Guia Race of Macau" being held from
November 13th/16th 2008 on the Macau (China) street course.

Now the only question: has Mugen/Honda offered to do this themselves or is it simply a service JAS and N.Tech are paying for?

Who's tuning the Formula Master Honda engines? If I am correct it's the same engine (K20).

Mugen has been previously involved with JAS with their Civic 3 dr rally car (possibly their endurance racer too). I remember reading they were partners on the rally car project.
