Well Boots, respect your opinions, but i'm not sure that driving under marijuana effect be the best thing one can do; I know that Enge's case was surely different, but twas imo justifiable to give the public opinion a strong message.
Sorry for him, i repeat, probably he absorbed by passive-smoking in a disco.

I agree with climb. The FIA don't want thier drivers doing any kind of drugs. They are role models for people. The penalty was probably a little harsh. Enge will never drive F1 again.

It kinda ruined Bourdais' championship too.

Did he actually drive under the effects of marijuana though, or was he just caught with a bit in his system? Was it a significant amount?

I just don't understand it...drivers can get drunk off their arses and it's ok, but a bit of marijuana smoke and you lose everything? Strange world, but reality.

As far as I'm aware, he was just caught with some in his system. I also think that the penalty was harsh...losing the crown AND a year's ban is a bit much. Well anyway, I hope all goes well for him in this test

The amount was such a tiny trace that he'd probably smoked it (or been in the room in which it was smoked) a WEEK beforehand, and itr owuldn't've affected his driving. So, 'message' or not, I think the decision was totally wrong.

Panther have shelved their interest in Enge after he requested a snack compartment be welded into the cockpit to carry a supply of bite size Snickers and a packet or two of cheesy biscuits to combat "the munchies".
When the crew chief queried his request he alledgedly dissolved into a fit of uncontrollable laughter before curling up in a corner of the garage where he slept for 9 hours.
