Was the Russell Spence racing a Radical at Combe yesterday the same Russell Spence from the mid 80's British F3 series?

The one in the late nineties BTCC was the same as the ex F3/F3000 driver. Don't know what he's doing now though.

I remember watching him drive right over the safety fence at lodge the weekend Neil Shanahan got killed.

As I recall, he was dropped after that, and Will Hoy took over for the rest of the season.

Russell currently spends most of his time running the family construction business in London. My father did some consultancy work for him last year. I think it's unlikely to be the same guy as he expressed no desire to go racing again when my dad asked him.

It was also the Russell Spence that tried to get a Birmingham Superprix stopped by sitting in his stranded car with his foot on the brake pedal so the Marshals couldn't shift it.

It soon got moved by a crane - with Russell still on board

saw a bloke in the Russel Spence Radical but it didn't look like the Russel I remembered at all.
