or Gaby Tarquini, Smoking Jo Winkelhock, Johnny Cecotto, Emanuelle Pirro, some guy called Larry Perkins, Jim Clark, Sandro Nannini (dud arm and all), Nico Larini, Dan Gurney, Basil van Rooyen......

and Paul Radisich has not won a championship since his NZ opel wheel days in FAtlantics. Third twice in the BTCC he has twice won the single event TC World Cup, but as stand alone event they very definately are not championships.

I still struggle to come to grips with the fact that at the AGP and Indy events FF,F# and FH don't seem to get a look in,imagine if the support events to the Motogp at PI was a postie bike race and a ATV or Quads event, with the side cars as the lunch time entertainment.

Its probably just as well that CAMS has nothing to do with MotoGP then.

Yeah GTR- I remember that one at Eastern Creek when backdoor Benny Elias took a 'short'cut through the back door of the pits but got lost...

Bring back the celebrity ford laser races at the Gold Coast. A certain northside of Brisbane Ford dealership would always win, no matter who was driving. The cars went like stink in a straight line, had a different engine note, look like it had some negative camber tuned into it, and was never scruitineered

I think Celebrity races are a waste of time too. I'd much rather watch real racing.

Have to agree with you,but unfortunatly the people who don't know much about motorsport like it and they make up a fair swag of the crowd.

Unfortuantely for the rest of us, this type of thing is here to stay. Street circuits and "event" type meetings engender this sort of celeb stuff, but the absolute worst aspect is when they trot out the C grade celebs from the soapies, the newsreader and the other assorted hangers-on that infest these race meetings. It's just not hard-core enough in the racing dept with all the side-shows and smoke and mirrors.

I would like to see some of the top drivers from anywhere give it a serious go in Aus. would give us a chance to see how our local guys measure up with some of the best in similar cars. For example if Alex Yoong did get a drive, it would be rather satisfying seeing him getting hosed by our local drivers. Something similar to Max the last two years

Thats a healthy attitude, why watch the racing when its more fun to watch people fail....
