That's right Dan. I went there with a friend some time between Nov 1979 and June 1980 and there were two TS15s, one complete and one spare tub. Probably in Lodge Corner adverts about that time.

Dan Rear should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A chap called Dave Allen, who I think had some Winstanley/LCA connections, entered a
TS10 in some early 79 FAt races. Not sure whether he ever started though, would this be one of these TS15s?

Or did I see two TS10s? It was a long time ago and I had absolutely no interest in anything except F1 back then.

I suspect they were TS10s Allen, though where and when LCA got them, and where they went after I've no idea. And your lack of interest in non-F1 stuff in the late 70s/early 80s - what a waste!!

Try contacting Peter Briggs who was at Surtees at the time.

This implies that:

a) Mark Griffith's TS15-07 shown at the Brands Hatch Superprix on 7 May, 2006 had been written off and reduced to just a tub by the Coys auction in 2010
b) There are two tubs claiming the 007 identity

Also I see that a TS15-07 is on the market:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C447781

Which of the two tubs is the above car for sale and which is the "real" TS15-007?

Allen and other super-knowledgeables, what are your views??

The confusion arose because due to a typo Coys incorrectly recorded that they were selling chassis number 006 and the tub for 007 but that was not the case. I believe that this was pointed out at the time of the auction although in the event they failed to sell the cars. However the complete car was and always has been chassis 07 (which Mark Griffiths owned and raced) and the tub is 06. There is no record of two chassis claiming the same 07 identity and both 06 and 07 were bought by Crispian Besley in 2010 through Legends. Crispian has raced 07 in DBT and historic F2 and this is the car now currently for sale with us at Cheshire Classic Cars.

Hope this helps!

Surtees TS15

Found an old setup book the other day, even had a genuine Bang & Olufsen Team Surtees Sticker on it. I worked for Surtees in 1974 and on my arrival there were cars being assembled for the Ecuador team Marlboro, all with BMW ? engines but I didn't keep chassis numbers.
After several non qualifying attempts by the hoplessly outpaced ecuador drivers, Marlboro team principle Ron Dennis put Tim Schenken in one of these for Salzburg, issue found with driveshaft length I remember.....I think retired with damage.
May 13 1974 note says TS15 /05 ? Hart Ford ...tested brake package at Goodwood in prep for F1 carbon testing.
One week later tested TS15/02 (Hart Ford 07) and Girling braked TS 15 /08 (Hart Ford 05) for De Dryver and Dieudonne ..... confusion in other threads over numbers could be a clash of engine number vs chassis number . These two drivers were tested as part of a sponsorship thing prior to competing at Rouen ( withdrawn due to extreme bad weather )
Salzburg june 74 Dolhem in TS15/15 Hart Ford ( engine 08 ) finished 3rd after running out of fuel . Race results say Watson drove 2nd Hart engined car but I remember it being BMW powered and suffered installation issues.
Prior to Hockenheim BMW Munich assisted with trying to solve that problem. Jose drove the Hart Ford, Not sure if it wasn't Derek Bell in the BMW car.....I remember a gearbox issue on Ford car and accident on BMW car....BMW car had rear radiator layout.
Rouen ....four cars went...one was TS15/08 fitted with Hart twin scavange designated TSE04 , two were withdrawn, Watson changed cars BMW to Ford ( TS 15/08 labelled T car )after practise although I remember going out to Johns car (Ford powered) stranded with a flat battery in practise ???, Jose went off in the race and we had to put John onto full wets, then the nose section got torn off.
Enna (two heats) we took 2 cars, one I know was TS15/08 old faithfull, both got damaged....we tried to make one out of both but failed.
Mugello, again two ford powered cars, Watson had very powerful 420R ? based Hart Ford, backfired during practise, we reset valve timing overnight and finished 6th (?) but did an engine in heat 2....Jose also had an engine issue in Heat 2.
Also in July there was another brake test with TS15 / 08 fitted with Hart Ford TSE 05 engine. on carbon brake discs
TS08 was rebuilt to do Karlskoga but team didn't go.

Sorry not to be of more help, if anyone is restoring a Hart Ford powered TS15 , I do have build schematics and setup sheets for many of those circuits. Always very interested to hear of restorations of these iconic cars or even the TS16's as well.

Whyever not? Of course you'd be daft to make them public as bots will pick them up and generate spam. Do it via PM.
