Same here. Iíd take anything at this time. Itís been long enough. Iíll admit I donít follow this series as close as others, but itíll be better than nothing.

Baskerville should suit these cars down to the ground. Looks like a nice mix of circuits to me. Hope spectators will be allowed by August.

So both Astras are on the market along with what we thought were Mr Bright's Golfs, and the Cupra.

Meanwhile, the Subarus have been shipped off to South America for their turn.

Is this the downturn of the series or just car shuffling

Shame. I would have thought the subarus had their best chance of development in Oz. Especially as Australia has a long history and good relationship with subaru.

With Holden gone, the Astra are orphans now.

No more so than the Seat

At least people see those Astras on the road here.

One does wonder if Opel could re enter the market under PSA ownership...

Lubner Motorsport, the Astra's constructor for TCR is re-homologating again this year.

So no, not orphans.

Not orphans, but irrelevant to the Australian car market.

It would be like running a ZB Commodore in Supercars, or a Colorado in SuperUtes

That's good to hear - hope to see the Astra's return to the track this year.

Would hope to see Opel return under PSA too.

Opel and PSA are already beginning to blend some of their models.

Peugeot group cars are probably better built than General Motors group cars for the most part. The list of common failure points on the General Motors 1.4L turbo Astra/Cruze engine is unreal: from the turbocharger housing cracking, to the turbo oil feed getting blocked, to the PCV leaking, to the water pump leaking... it goes on and on.

Personally I would rank both French economy car manufacturers (Peugeot-Citroen and Renault) above the German economy car manufacturers (Opel, Ford-Werke, Volkswagen) for reliability. Both the Opel compact cars and Ford Germany cars (the Ecoboosts that are shared with US models too) seem to have a lot of problems.

See the FTA television coverage has been finalised & will include live coverage of TCR Australia and S5000, as well as a number of other ARG/Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships categories.

There has been a comparison of required budgets to run TCR

I wonder how the bosses of V8 Supercars feel with TCR offering FTA, whilst the V8s will be behind a pay wall

Bit of a difference with one paying for it and the other wanting to be paid a serious amount of coin for it to be aired. A sport shouldnít need TV money to keep the series afloat. Those days of big money for the rights are gone anyway...
