What is a ten year deal worth? It’s only written on paper

I was thinking AdP might be one of the few guys capable of getting a call to join one of the lead teams.

However I was assuming this would be in place of Coulthard who has been mullered by Scott. Then I thought perhaps Fabs has been limited to 'number 2'duties in recent years but that wouldn't explain his poor qualifying positions a lot of the time?

One would have to question if this is an engineering issue though.

Scott, as lead driver, has lead the setup in a direction that is fast. But is it undriveable for anyone other than him? He made every teammate in the Volvo look decidedly average too, but is that just talent, or the car being too much for anyone other than him.

May also explain some of Slade's comparative lack of pace compared to other co-drivers, if the car is difficult to extract the maximum from.

Or just maybe, he is a damn good driver that can extract speed where others can't?

I wonder if Ludo is also moving to the US? That could be a big hit if so.

Fabs has done what was needed in order to secure a teams title, solid number two. I suppose that loyalty is rewarded with a new contract.

Keeping Coulthard is good for continuity with Scott departing, and on the face of it is there anyone else the team would think suitable to replace him right now if they are already having to bring one new driver in?

It has been mentioned that Ludo is going to the USA, to try his hand at engineering Indy cars.

No surprise that Mr Penske and Mr Cindric would pick the best apples off the tree and take them home to North Carolina.

This is really irrelevant. He came to Supercars to win and promote his heavy investment in acquiring local, business interests. He has done all of that, so I guess cherry picking was the next logical step. If the talent you have has gone as far as it can go, you give it a promotion or it goes somewhere else.

Goodbye Penske: https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/10/24...upercars-exit/

Goodbye and good luck Scott: https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/10/24...me-in-indycar/

Ludo TBC still.

AA reporting Coulthard gone too, AdP and Will Davison in. https://autoaction.com.au/2020/10/24...ars-djr-reborn

Good news is that Shell is continuing as a primary backer.
