Strange compromise, by the sounds of it. The commentators would have to keep track of which drivers have made an engine change. Does it apply to any engine failure, or only a failure during practice, which would lead to a 10-place drop?

I think the first "penalty for engine change" is cancelled.

FPV GTHO should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Whilst still a good idea, the only benefit i could really see this happening is not letting some bad luck get in the way of a title battle. A car with chronic bad reliability wont be affected much by this, as theyre likely to have alot more than 1 engine failure.

But if it ends up like last year, an engine faliure in Quali for Brazil won't ruin the championship. Good news IMO.

Malaysian GP Scrutineering report says that Sebastien Bourdais's engine was changed after FP3, so car #14 has used its free change.
