Well it was certainly going at high speed, but sparks seemed strange but looked good

as discussed on here a few weeks ago, and even Bowlby himself publicly admitted they are going to really struggle to meet the minimum weight, they are highly likely stripping weight out of the chassis as they are monumentally over-weight due to a very heavy V6 engine and twin flywheel KERS system package choices........it seems they originally planned to be in the 6 to 8MJ class, but that talk has now been significantly down graded to the 2MJ class.......hence they probably dont need the fancy and heavy rear drive system to harvest and apply 8MJ......when going the 2MJ route they can probably do it all through the front wheels, hence the full rear drive system has gone to save weight.......thats my bet!
Also if in the 2MJ class and the KERS system fails, they still stand a fighting chance of a respectable result, as Audi have done when their 2MJ KERS regularly fails |

So all the power and harvest through the poor font tires - won't be much double stinting, but the that's good for the drivers with the awful driving position and torque steer to fight - they won't be wanting much double stinting either.

At 2MJ, the front tires will get they same load the would under the 8MJ AWD scenario, or less. The back tires will be loafing.

I dont think they are having torque steer. I read somewhere equal length axles.

5 gears will help that out a lot. Once they get the car in its sweet spot, it should be great.

Oops. Nissan's testing is looking like McLaren's. Hope they can get it together in the next month.

That is why you go to Sebring to test, even if you aren't going to race there. But, this sounds like a large setback that they really didn't need since it doesn't seem to be in the systems, but in the tub, and stops continued development of systems.

They were certainly waiting for more than 25 laps in two days. The track of Sebring is of course difficult for chassis, but the car is obviously too fragile.

Porsche in almost all the WEC races have made some sparks
Is just because the car is to low or is something else? Maybe Nissan are trying the same |

Some great pictures on DSC, you can clearly see 2 good pictures of the twin flywheel KERS systems.....golly its big, I will be very surprised if its less than 100Kg, the gear and clutch sytem looks like the major weight

When I first saw the sparks in that video, I thought that they came out of the exhaust system because they were so high off the ground as the car went by.
But whatever caused it as far as dragging something on the ground, it was pretty big. |

Nissan have confirmed they were not running power to the rear axle and there are suggestions that they may not use it in race format either due to weight saving.
They have also had to abandon Sebring because of a part failure to do with the engine mounts. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117911 |

According to Motorsport Total, Nissan instantly claimed that they never planned to run for the full five days anyways, only to be proven wrong by the FIA testing signup documents
