Toyota and seemingly Audi are nowhere against Porsche. Discouraging,

#8 Audi broken again? This is the third time in four sessions this weekend.

FP3 was due to a collision, so not a reliability problem there at least.

But Audi and Toyota were a bit disappointing in Qualifying. Able to mix it up with each other, but not against Porsche. But then again, Porsche do lose more pace relative to Audi and even Toyota usually in the race. At least that's been the pattern the past couple of years.

I guess Toyota is moderately pleased with that. They did have to run quite few laps to achieve it though

Kind of disappointing that they are substantially slower than last year. They will be much slower at Le Mans. Porsche have more grip and power than the competition. Audi and Toyota are looking silly.

Either Audi and Toyota are doing race pace runs, sandbagging, or they're in trouble. Which based on Silverstone (granted, it's unique in being a very high downforce track where handling matters more than brut power), is hard to fathom at least in single lap pace.

But as bad as things have been for Audi with the #8, Porsche have also had their problems this weekend with electronics (yesterday) and reportedly a clutch today. Nothing's a foregone conclusion right now.

it kind of feels the same to me. but we've got to remember porsche are officially the only ones to run a dedicated interm aero package here at spa. audi obviously have a very low df config and toyota claim they've got HD (although to me it looks like the ideal type of interim spa setup). if it's really HD, we've seen in the past years that's not necessarily appropriate for spa.

Qualifying went Porsche's way, but lets see about the race. Practice times looked very close.

But the LMP2s and LMP1 privateers were faster.

#12's fastest single lap was quicker than last time Rebellion were at Spa with Lola (2013)

Track will be even hotter tomorrow! That may have something to do with the times and tire choices?

Yeah, that seems to be the case. The GTE cars were much quicker in Silverstone than last year, and at Spa they are a little slower.

Not having stupid security loopholes is expected as is commercial rights taking down some uploads (some, since it is manual process).

I'm still in principle against the paywall in a sport consisting of moving billboards but I've again paid for the season pass, so supply & demand seems to have met. I remember FP3 was sometimes shown, but not everytime and it probably isn't even always broadcasted (cameras not on). And I just mentioned demand, but this isn't F1/Nascar, so demand for practices is very limited.

plus they didn't ban full replay broadcasts from youtube.
As if this policy was a feature of the service.

Also they used direct RLM commentary, not just Hindy/GG.
So we have now found an universum where having a decicated commentary team with arguably best commentator Hindy (I'm not his biggest fan, but arguably) is a bad thing, while being a cheapskate and planting radio feed over another pictures feed resulting in disconnection of what they talk and what is seen would be just perfect.

S1 and S3 are comparable, S2 is much slower for Porsche compared to 2015. Toyota were over a second slower in S2 than last year, and we saw in Silverstone that they had much more grip. 2015 and 2016 Toyota ran the same aero package at Spa and Silverstone. The track must have been really bad today.

Did the #8 Audi have a problem in qualifying? I've seen it mentioned here, but neither SC365 or DSC have any info or mention on it?

But if I'm Audi Sport, I'd go other both cars electrical and FWD systems before the race tomorrow. Though I think that Audi waited as long as they could to decide on the LM aero kit, they need points especially after the DNF and penalty after Silverstone.

Also, Audi and Toyota are close on actual and ideal laptimes. I do doubt that Porsche can run their Q pace in the race, though.

Only now that you're frustrated with the daft 10MJ reduction?

Yes, of course the track was faster today. Last year they had only FP3 to rubber the track while this weekend has been fully dry

Last year's Silverstone LMGT QLF was on a damp track

There is no excuse. The LMP1-H are simply much slower!

What ****es me off about it is that I can't properly compare Audi's 2015 and 2016 times to see if this LD car is really a failure here or not.
