No track action on Easter Sunday at Oulton

Just read in Autosport that there will be no track action at the opening F3/GT meeting on Easter Sunday, qualifying and practice will take place on the Saturday (15th), and racing on the Monday (17th).

Now I understand it's Easter and everything else, but it seems like a bit of an odd decision to me, especially for the people that are travelling a long distance to get there (like myself). I now have to book three days off work instead of two, and one of those days is effectively wasted...

On a more positive note, where can one amuse themself on a Sunday in the Oulton Park area?

Don't think it is a decision as such Mike - I believe it is a planning condition at Oulton.

Well, I know when I've been before the racing hasn't started very early due to church activities and such, and you've got to respect that, but still...

However, knowing how slow my laptop is, I guess I can spend the day editing Saturday's shots...

No surprise there - There's hardly EVER any racing at Oulton on a Sunday - Just TOCA, i think, and I'm not too sure of that...Been that way forever...I think it might have been conditional going back to the very earliest days of the circuit and quite right it is too.

We can't whinge and moan about the incomers ruining the action at Castle Combe and on the other hand grump about what was at Oulton, before the circuit, taking precedence.....

30 miles from Oulton you're in the most beautiful part of England, the Peak District - take a drive out & see what you're missing living in the flatlands of East Anglia!

Ah, now that's a good idea. When I went to Oulton in 2004 we went for a good drive round the hills, I'll have to take my car for a spin.

Looks like this is the traditional BARC easter meeting moved from Thruxton, before that Goodwood.Never was any action on Sundays in 50 years.Thruxton has Superbikes next Easter.Acording to nice BARC booklet that came with todays Autosport, practice Friday,Q Sun,Racing Monday.Nothing Saturday which makes no sense at all.

Yeah, well that's a bit out of the question for me, four or so hours drive home. I'm sure I'll find some way to amuse myself, but it is a bit of a wasted day...
