He has certainly been very scrappy this weekend and last.

But he hasnít been close to Gasly bad so if he continues his development as he should then he will be fine.

Two things in Albons favour:

1) Max has been scrappy too - it looks like the car is unstable at the rear end.
2) Alex has shown he's prepared to take a risk to make an overtake - watching "drive to survive" it seems that Gaslys lack of aggression was part of the reason they shuffled him backwards. Alex is prepared to try a move even if it doesn't come off and it appears that Red Bull prefer that approach.

Indeed, I can see him being a good backup to Max

Spot on and I think he will keep the seat with some ease, actually.

He was pretty untidy on Fridays last year as well but always delivered a solid race drive. All that was missing was a bit of extra pace.

He is perfect for Red Bull as he isn't really going to challenge Max massively but he has good basic pace and can fight past people if needed. Gasly 2019 would have been mired a few places further back last week., whereas Alex was in position to pick up the pieces even if it didn't quite work out the way he hoped.

Considering how frantic his introduction to F1 has been he has coped admirably.

As this is the second consecutive race weekend at the same circuit, couldn't they have called it the Poly-Styrian Grand Prix?

I'll see myself out.

After the thrills and spills of the Austrian GP, I'm looking forward to the Styrian GP, though will it be a repeat of last weekend's race, I doubt it back to back races seldom are but hopefully it will a good race nonetheless.

It's a bit of a jinx track for Lewis and he's only won here once in 2016, so it will be interesting to see if he will have a change in fortune. I would have liked to have seen different tyre compounds used, it would have given the teams and drivers a challenge after last weekend's race.

Verstappen fastest in second practice. Hopefully he can carry that pace into qualifying so Merc have a serious challenger this weekend

Taxi645 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
So you hand your satellite team your last years car so they can mess up your competitors and their strategy...

He'll need to stay within ~0.25s to be of any positional and strategic use. I hope he will start to manage that. Otherwise it's another advantage for the Merc's.

Tbf if Red Bull aren't handily outpacing a year old car then they should really question themselves.

Problem is, you do not only need to outpace them, you need to outpace them with such a margin that you still clear them after your pitstop. Otherwise you end up losing time behind the satellite car after your stop.

I've forwarded your info to F1 management as the new authority in naming all future GP. Get your thinking cap on for something good at Mugello for Ferrari.
