They would want to emphasize the "sydney" nature of the track, so maybe "Sydney International Circuit". it still holds FIA Level 2 approval doesn't it?

That was sort of my guess, or "Sydney International Raceway"

Everyone will still call it Eastern Creek though...

Possibly to market it for International events?

Sydney International Raceway would have more International appeal than Eastern Creek Raceway.

Agree, bit like many still refer to the venue for the last round as Wanneroo Park 20 years after it was renamed. Don't care how much money Alf Barbagallo tipped in, think it was crass to rename the circuit after him.

wholeheartedly agree. If I bought/renovated Lakeside, I wouldn't rename it Paterson Raceway. What an ego trip!

Alf Barbagallo is a person, and the name of a series of prestige car dealerships in WA. Its not quite an ego trip for the motor vehicle purveyor to put their dollars behind the WASCC and expect a commercial return in the form of naming rights of the venue...
