Yes ! There must be something about Imp motors and sheds in the back garden - viz. the George Bevan story .

Harry's Chopper

Dale , you could get me into real trouble here . There are some great stories to be told about the Humberstones' aviation career , a number of which must unfortunately remain untold for fear of further enriching those of m'Learned Friends who ply their trade as Libel lawyers .

Thinking of your Anglia , I note the recent posting by young Dan showing the Minelli Racing Anglia rounding Druids at Brands . Now I seem to recall that this car was sometimes driven by one Roberto Giordanello ; would ' Minelli ' have been a contraction of Minton Giordanelli Racing ?

In that same picture , is the Escort running next-but-one on the road Wrecker Madchap's ? This was powered by a David Wood BDG , which met its demise in the back George Bevan's 2 litre Sunbeam Stiletto at Snetterton whilst chasing Mick Whiting's V6 Escort down the Revett straight .

I remember your Escort well ; always immaculately prepared , and tidily driven . Please give my regards to Steve when you next see him .

corvair and firenza supersaloons

The ex_ Ian Richardson Corvair was purchased by me, Martin Dilks (who still runs D B Motors selling parts for American cars and RV s etc.I am now based near Husbands Bosworth) from a guy call Mick who was somewhere down near Cirencester. When I got the car it was a dark-ish metallic blue, much the same as when Tony Stawson raced it. There was no engine, just the gearbox.
We stripped the car out completely and trailered it up to Rydal Garage in Sheffield where Terry Stone and his brother Brian painted it white with the usual D B Motors red and blue accents. Terry used to drive the D B Motors Prodsport Midgets when we were sponsoring the BRDC and Donington series.
A 302 Chevy was built up with Lucas Kinsler injection and the whole car was rewired back at Leicester.
The car was only raced in D B Motors colours at Donington.
I have lots of photos of it from that time.
Also in the same season I bought the Firenza, Baby Bertha in a deal for a 1979 Mustang. This was painted mostly black at the time as raced by Paul Heywood-

driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
After you had Baby Bertha you sold it to Phil Barak who raced it a few times at Donington

Thats right Clive, my Dad Steve and Rob Giordinelli first raced the car together hence the name. Dale then took over from Rob and they changed the colour to blue.

That would be Mick Leary, an old school friend of my late father who sold it to him.

Paul Haywood-Halfpenny. Martin - did you paint Baby Bertha white or was that Phil Barak?

I think you're right Gregor (it looks like it say's 'Newmans' on the back door of the CF Tow vehicle). He's still got it too but I think it's a different colour...
