Countdown to Knockhill Rallycross - who will win??
Who do you think will come up trumps at Knockhill. Will it be Gollop's turn to re establish his command or will Doran take a hat trick of wins?
Will Carnegie get in on the act. Maybe just predict Gibson, that way you have two for the price of 1!! (Lawrence and Rob) With Rob around there will plenty of action and red flags, so you will get value for your money!! hehe! |

From the little I've seen of Gollops new car it seems to ride the bumps very well and has great traction. The RS200 seems a little slow off the line.

Has to be between Gollop and Carnegie really doesn't it? I've gone for Gollop as he does seem to have the edge at the moment. Can't see Doran winning (watch him win by a mile now I've said that), it was other peoples bad luck and some lenient scrutineers that got him the win at Lydden, his was not the fastest car out there.
The rest of the cars behind Gollop and Carnegie seem fairly well matched so it sould be a good race whoever wins. |

Gollop and Carnegie have had the edge so far this year but my money would go on Doran or Holfeld. Knochill is very fast and smooth and the long uphill drag from the hairpin to Duffus Dip will favour the extra power of RS200/Escort. This is providing that they can get their cars off the line without breaking anything!!!! If neither of those two drivers lead into the 1st corner, it'll make for a cracking race.

Dont think they are using the far end hairpin, there is a inner loop before coming off the loose, maybe they use that again like 1990.
I certainly think the track will favour Gollop, as the Dorans RS200 may be a bit to big to hurl around the circuit. AS JAG said it is also very slow off the startline. That is to with the extra the torque the new machines have. The two Focus are certainly the class of the field this year and Dorans two wins have been very much inherited or Gifted. |

Are they not using the bottom hairpin?? I don't know if it's correct but on the Knockhill website there is a circuit map and it seems to show the use of the hairpin. (I'm presuming that the grey infield section on the map is the rallycross circuit???) Maybe i'm wrong...i don't know. I did think the full start/finish straight was a bit long for a rallycross circuit.

The map has been there for a while, so i dont think that is the rallycross track. In 1990 there was a inner loop (as used for safety cars etc in BTCC) which they used. They turned that into a second loose section which lead to a right left flick onto the startline. They might just use that tarmac section. It all depends i guess where the startline will be and the electronic timing loop. Last time they started races using half of the pitlane and half of the track as it wasnt wide enough. I dont know if they will be able to line five cars up side by side for the supercars or not. They managed it at nutts corner so i guess it should be ok at knockhill.
As you say the last corner to the first corner is very long for a rallycross race so i wouldnt think they would use it. I would have thought that may be used for gridding up the cars. I could be wrong. Maybe someone who went to the demo event last october may be able to enlighten us. |
