i'm sure he'll be happier back in a Porsche and I hope the rumors are true and he reunites with Frosty at Team Forklift for the enduros. |

how is that so posted 1 Day ago (do you read or just think you know everything)
Red Bull Holden Racing Team recruit Garth Tander believes Supercars' 2019 rearrangement of the PIRTEK Enduro Cup will suit himself and Shane van Gisbergen. After losing his full-time Garry Rogers Motorsport drive in January, Tander takes on enduro duties this year with the 2018 title runner-up. Losing the traditional warm-up puts extra pressure on co-drivers at Bathurst but Tander – a three-time winner and veteran of 20 starts – is comfortable with the change. "That's obviously going to be a bit different for everyone and for me, obviously my first year as a co-driver," Tander said. "I think that'll work in our favour, given my experience at Bathurst, and doing the 12 Hour at the end of this month and the miles I've done up there. |

Sorry yes I read the article halfway though before giving up, you are right it was only posted yesterday but it's pretty much regurgitated "lets make another story out of nothing" clickbait by the media.
I meant the Tander out of a drive / Tander to RedBull / enduro calendar shakeup is all old news. All been done to death, but the media bless their hearts continue to try to make it seem fresh and interesting. |

After pulling up a couple of articles, you are right, I can't find it confirmed after all. I swear I read it was a done deal but maybe reading too much into things like this headline..... https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/01/16...duro-cup-role/ |

There was a story that came out of Melbourne this week, suggesting that Mission Winnow may be making a sponsorship appearance in Supercar in 2019...

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, after the Candy Man debacle at LDM a few years ago.

Yes, it's a Philip Morris brand that seems to have nothing to do with anything. The website makes claims that they are about pushing innovation with their partners and tries very hard to emphasise that they aren't advertising tobacco products. The sole purpose of the company seems to be for sponsoring Ferrari F1 and Ducati Moto GP teams.

Doesn't appear to be. The website is very ambiguous though.
This is a description of the company from the website: "Mission Winnow has a simple goal: drive change by constantly searching for better ways of doing things. And by committing to learning and knowing more, it’s easier to make choices that improve the future for everyone. To make this happen, we’ll get inside the minds of outstanding innovators and change-makers, to see why and how they achieve excellence. From world-leading engineers and scientists to cutting-edge creatives, the people at PMI, and our partners at Scuderia Ferrari and Ducati, have the know-how to challenge the status quo, drive revolutionary change and to be champions. They have devoted their lives to finding a better way, and their stories of endeavor and success are inspiring. You’ll see innovative solutions to long-standing problems and brand-new initiatives that kick-start advances into unchartered territory. Every one of these is focused on making a positive impact on people and organizations." |

Hopefully the story is true. Motor Racing could use the injection of their funds and the company were great supporters for so many years.

The interesting piece might be whether the Ferrari F1 and Ducati MotoGP teams comply with Australian anti-tobacco laws, and whether these two teams will be forced to cover that branding in their racing here....

Today, consumer demand for cigarettes remains. Even with increasing prevention and cessation efforts worldwide, there are more than 1 billion people who smoke cigarettes. And according to the World Health Organization, there will still be more than 1 billion people who smoke in 2025. Our ambition is to convince all adult smokers who would otherwise continue smoking cigarettes to switch to scientifically substantiated smoke-free products, which are a much better alternative for them. We have invested more than $4.5 billion USD in research, development and production to provide adult smokers with better options. Behind this investment, and every advancement at PMI, is robust science. We are harnessing recent breakthroughs in technology to develop smoke-free alternatives to cigarettes that are much less harmful than continued smoking. It is illegal to sell e-cigarettes and e-cigarette accessories to a person under 18 years of age. It is also illegal to display, advertise or promote e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes that do not contain nicotine are legal in NSW. ... The sale, use and possession of liquid nicotine, including in e-cigarettes, is against the law. |

Philip Morris obviously have a huge legal team and they seem to have done a very good job on this.
The whole thing is obviously a smokescreen, but legally, I really am not sure anything can be done about it, especially in this day and age of ISDS treaties and so on. Anyway as far as I am concerned, if we're going to ban advertising things for being bad for society, I am ****ed if I know how its not legal to advertise a 6-pack of beer, but its perfectly legal to advertise betting promotions that are illegal, and online betting that is also illegal to host in this country... |

Alcohol and gambling shouldn't be advertised either, if ciggie ads are banned.

Discussions about e-cigarettes having been ongoing for some time as they only contain nicotine and not tobacco, which is where the ban sits. |
