That's not quite correct. IndyCar is it's own sanctioning body. However, it does liase with the FIA, through the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States (ACCUS). On ACCUS's home page, is a list of bullet points outlining ACCUS's principal activities with the FIA.

While I'm a little surprised to see Zach Veach leave before the end of the season, I'm not surprised he is leaving Andretti Autosport. His results weren't exactly spectacular, with his best being 4th at Long Beach in 2018 and 4th at Texas this year.

I think his sponsors weren't on board to continue and Andretti did not sound happy after breaking 3 cars in one corner. I was surprised he wasn't dropped then honestly. Michael's comments were not one of support and confidence.

You're not going to get the cause of information unless he decides to talk. They can't say anything other that general comments about why they won't clear him, it's legally limited and I don't think they have the same deals with drivers the NFL and MLB have for HIPPA releases.

There were some previous discussions with AA and Gainsbridge to bring Hinch in for some events after he was dropped from the SPAM lineup. Don't think the money worked out and a seat was available but rumors were they were interested plus Honda Canada and others.

Well there's problems with ovals closing and those remaining on the schedule being NASCAR owned, see Iowa and Richmond. In college I lived in an area with plenty of Richmond NASCAR signage, never saw a single anything for the Indy race. You could get free tickets every hour for Busch and often for Cup on every radio station but never anything for Indy. Iowa just seemed like to fade away and be closed sadly. There's often more fans at the Friday night local series than came to the big show for any series. There's racing fans, they just want the local track show not grandstand seating.

Fontana was interesting but hadn't run in years and now shrinking. Milwaukee and Michigan were done years ago, Pocono is a whole other story, Phoenix was ruined and not worth a race. It doesn't leave you much for Indy to run on.

Just announced was Nascar dropped Kentucky as well as they're closing to big racing so there's another gone

As the majority of ovals are NASCAR owned, they are hardly going to want to advertise/promote a rival series racing at one of their tracks. Having said that, they need to fill those seats, in order to keep those venues viable.

If oval fans showed up to the tracks as much as they post about the lack of oval racing on the internet, then they'd be the most profitable events in Indycar

Sadly fans of oval racing and indeed oval racing as a whole seems to be on the decline
Even NASCAR is adding more road racing to its schedule these days, after years of giving it 2 token dates per season, they're up to about 5 these days with reports of Road America and COTA being added to their schedule as well.

I can see a day when the Indy 500 is the only oval race on the Indycar schedule.
It'll be a sad day, but I'd rather a complete road+street indycar calender (+ the 500) than no Indycar at all
