1998 36th AMP Bathurst 1000 for Supertourers
Yes I was wondering if there were any websites or individuals that had any photos or information on the 1998 AMP Bathurst 1000 for the Supertourers. Looking for photos of the privateers, particularly for the BMWs that ran in this event. Any information would be great, thank you.

Hmmm that TWR 98-001 Volvo S40 must have a reasonable value. BTCC winner and Bathurst 1000 winner!

Well it would make really nice razor blades then.
I was there and went nuts with the camera and have semi-recently recovered the photos from a dead-hard drive. Might take a while to set-up though. Have to find all over again my web storage space. There's full race results on Wikipedia. |

Most Factory Group A Volvo 240 Turbos were "Returned" to the factory, I'm sure it was part of Volvo's new marketing campaign for recyclable cars

Falc - if you need webspace to host images, let me know, I have more than I will ever use and can set something up for you pretty quick and easy.

The Faber-Castell BMW was a nice looking car. Any more photos of it? |

No, in Volvo's factory museum
http://www.supertouringregister.com/...vehicle/25.php The survival rate for the S40s is pretty good- only one car scrapped after being written off in a testing shunt |

1998 36th AMP Bathurst 1000 for Supertourers
Those pictures you took Falcadore from the 1998 Bathurst 1000 were great, is it possible we could see the Vauxhalls, Ford Mondeos, Peugeot 405s, Peugeot 406s, Honda Accords, and Nissan Primeras also? These photos bring back good memories, when Super Touring car racing was at its best. Thanks again Falcadore for bringing great memories of good touring car racing, thank!

Was this the year Dwayne Bewley pushed the Pug 406 across the line? I was doing some jobs for Tony Newman (Fastway Couriers) at the time and I saw Tony straight after, he was in tears after all the emotion and work. They were great days, variety and a different atmosphere in the crowd.

Wasn't it the Adderton's Mitsubishi, I mean Honda, that didn't get factory support? (The car was a Honda, possibly the Crompton NATCC car, but had Mitsubishi badges on it as the team was supported by North Shore Mitsubishi from Sydney).
Could well have been the same for the Pugs, but the Honda thing got more publicity, possibly due to the Addertons role in running the Super Tourers? |
