The opposite is even truer with cars, no matter how rich someone is doesn't always translate into speed!

With guitars, at one time my brother had the same amp as Santana and it did produce "the Santana sound", apart from my brother being poor but skilled it did show that without the right equipment you can't do the job.

Good question Peter, but I am old school. (I'm also tight fisted, so until I've run out of the old stuff I'm not upgrading!)

Yep, episode 12 Looking more like a car, now, but progress still seems agonisingly slow.....until you get to the bit when he starts talking about the amount of time spent on it

Sorry for all following the Brexit debate, I'm rather OT talking about Murray's Escort....although of course much of that comment applies to Brexit, too......

There's a danger that Project Binky might be finished before the Murray Escort at this rate .....

Nah. Very unlikely when I give it some more thought. After all the Murray Escort is a commercial project. And Binky seems incredibly complex and difficult to deliver by comparison.

Last few posts moved from ‘Broad sunlit uplands’......

Talking of watching those car builds, interesting the stats being bandied about regarding youngsters and the popularity of YouTube over TV. I wonder if the latter will gradually offer less choice of channels? (Not that that would be a bad thing.... )

Well from my perspective the choices on Netflix and Prime give me the opportunity to catch up with some good series. It's noticeable that some of the best are those originally shown on ITV or BBC.

I am and I able to watch all the UK terrestrial channels via something called Film On TV which costs around £150 per year. That means I can watch the 6 nations and get the news etc. I'm pretty lucky but my feeling is that the streaming convenience will eventually kill the traditional tv output.

I can't imagine this kind of project sold to a customer other than a TV producer. Its more a "talk only" show than a garage. What will he get at the end of the day? A kit car in Escort guise. I've always appreciated Edouard China, he likes to share his passion and doesn't put himself above. Only my opinion.

I’m with you on that! At the moment I find The Sweeney and The Professionals are very watchable- mostly because of the cars.....

Or "crumpet" as a bloke by the name of Stirling Moss addressed my wife as at a restaurant in Spa a few years back ! mind you seeing that he is over 20 years older than her I suppose that accounted for it

Strangely that is the second time in a week I have been asked that question by someone from 'Blighty'..... the answer is yes, but not so much by younger guys. It is mainly a term used by older guys, particularly those who live out of town or in the outback and are of a bogan (Aussie for Redneck) nature.

The male equivalent of Bruce seems to have died out though.

Professionals- Capri, RS2000, Granada, Cortina, Rover SD1 jam sandwich etc., and last night Bodie and Doyle were in a TR7, while Cowley was in a Dolomite Sprint. When they throw them about you can see just how badly most cars handled in those days! Must have been a later prog yesterday, as it was widescreen as well......

Love it.

One of the Freeview channels re-ran Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes recently, and that featured Mark 3 Cortina in one plus Audi Quattro Coupe in the other. Plus assorted other classics as background props, if rather the same ones moved around!

A2A was of course memorable for the phrase "Fire up the Quattro" which maybe sad people with four wheel drive Audis still use today :innocentwhistle:

At least one Capri used in the Professionals TV series was hosted by a specialist in Evesham. Dont know if it was for sale tho.
May be our TV series can be rated as poor but at least one is showing an impressive batch of classics. Its called "Les petits meurtres d'Agatha Christie". To me, the real star is a Facellia used by the police inspector. I wonder who is responsible for the car casting but this guy or girl is really good! Wonder how the rather tall actor can slide behind the wheel…

Now we have a 'smart TV' that can access more than just digital channels, on the odd occasions that I've had the opportunity to use the remote control I've been enjoying watching quite a bit on You Tube, the Gordon Murray Escort, 1980's Touring Cars and British rallying etc that was originally shown on UK TV. You Tube working how it does has then recommended other 'similar' stuff to me and encouraged me to search out more old film on there. I must encourage my missus to work more at weekends, there seems to be a never ending supply of nostalgia on there!
