Oulton Gold Cup

Don't forget folks the Oulton Gold Cup celebrating Oulton Park's 50th birthday is on this weekend - Sunday and Monday, 24 and 25 August.

Plenty of Historic Racing Cars with Practice and then Racing on both days.

I can't believe the lack of comments on this event! It was a fantastic weekend, plenty of great cars, good races (apparantly- I was too busy in the paddock) and people like Sir Stirling and Jackie Stewart walking around.

Nice to see big grids for once in all races, but a shame that most of the F1/2/5000 race was under the 'safety' car.
Its a long while since I've seen that many people at Oulton (but admit havn't neen to a BTCC or BSB meeting there for a while).

Official attendance was 14,500 - the F3 meeting attracted 13,000

re Oulton Park 50th anniversary Gold Cup meeting
this was an absolutely superb 2 days of nostalgia(3 if you count the test day on Saturday, which was marred by about a gallon of oil on the circuit)
the racing was excellent, the guests were top of the tree, and even the weather behaved itself
the safety car problem was unfortunate, and it is very easy to criticise both the Race control staff, and the Safety car driver, when you are not in volved and dont have all the relevant information
this was one small glitch in an otherwise smoothly run event. Remember the first day finished 2 minutes before the curfew, and the second day finished about 15 minutes before same curfew. need I say more.
dont lets bicker about a minor mishap, but remember a brilliant 50th birthday party
heres to Oulton Parks next 50 years
