Damn what a shame. Wen i was there it was'nt completed, so all they had to keep you away from the walls was some plastic tape.

I jumped that and leaned on the wall. Having Sierras and Commodores going passed you at 160-70mph about 10 feet away was a experience i'll NEVER forget

The Thunderdome will probably never be bulldozed. The AMOUNT of **** they used for landfill is incredible. Car bodies, A broken down Bulldozer, you name it. It'd cost a fortune to do it. Plus the soil would have to be treated before anything could build there...

Not sticking up for either race, but can you actually quoute the relevant NCR or CAMS regulation that states this?

I think you will find it has been 'policy' and therefore something that can and has been changed over the past few years.

Sorry Racetime but what the hell does that have to do with Calder Park. The date got the arse because Bob wouldn't pay the bill. the facilites aren't up to the Supercabs high standards. the pitlane is like driving down a dirt rd somewhere out the back of cranny. Maybe if Bob spent some money on the joint he would have kept his date. But there maybe light at the end of the tunnel. I saw today that Bobs sponsoring Bathurst this year, Maybe a truce? If he can find the money to sponsor an interstate race(no offence N.S.W) then he can fix up his own track.

Ummm flaggie1 (any chance of a real name btw??) - how about reading the QUOTED SECTION before sprouting off at the gills? DMC made a specific comment about a race meeting being held this coming weekend.

And - for your information - that has nothing to do with Calder Park - you happy now?

Some people just want to ******* argue for the sake of it........

Get it right.... flaggie1 bagged Calder, not Flaggie!!!

Though I did have the pleasure of his company for the weekend at the Vic State round just passed...

I dont absolutely hate the place, it's got a LOT of history, though it's probably my least fave of the four permanent circuits.

Ok gentlemen WHICH other tracks need work done on them.?? Do they need work as much as flaggie1 says.(sorry flaggie). (why do people have have internet names close to each other) I went to the 1st race meeting at Calder in 1961. if you reckon its needs work now, you should have seen it back then.

re Internet names - quite often it's simply a way to hide a real name. Other times it's a nick name, others a working name (as mine is)

Tracks that need work?

Sandown (main straight - again!), Oran Park, Winton (edges still breaking up), Canberra (kerbs <g>)

Mine's simply what I am, a flaggie. But if you really want to know my name email me on nozzer34@hotmail.com and I'll tell ya.

As for tracks needing work, Sandown main straight, Winton in places, Calder, in places, and most of the street circuits. And apparently Oran and Barbagello too, just on anecdotal evidence.

Barbagallo had major work done on it earlier this year (in Jan) - believe it is now OK again (the original surface, BTW, was totally different to any other track I have seen - did not appear to be wearing at all on the main straight!

Well Racetime this thread is about Calder Park not some clash of race meeting in N.S.W. My internet name is also what i am. I'm a flaggie along with flaggie. And yes we worked together on the weekend just past. If you want to know who i am just send me an e-mail as well. My address is flaggie1@optusnet.com.au and i will be more than happy to give you my life story. As for lunch the M.S.C.A shouted the lunch and it was most delicous (hot dogs for anyone who wasn't there). My comments about Calder are that just comments. What, can't people state there opinion in this industry. How about you telling us about yourself Racetime.

What the hell are you so uptight about?

Before sprouting off again GO AND READ THE MESSAGE I ANSWERED....I don;t see you having a shot at that poster - so what's the personal gripe you have?

And what are you going on about lunch for? I don;t seem to recall bringing up anything about lunches (or was yours so bad?)

Or is this just a bad hair day?

And the day you or anyone else gets to control and keep ANY thread strictly on topic is the day everyone should give up living.

BFC, I refuse to say... But you might be right.

And thanks for the heads up on Barbagallo, Racey.

No dramas - thought about it after I posted - the original track at WA is like a heavy duty blue metal mix and looks like it - extremely hard surface.

The work has widened and extended pit lane and decreased the width of the pit straight. Believe they have also done something on the corner from the main back straight on the corner to pit straight as well.

Back to the Thunderdome...

Seeing the V8's going around a renovated Thunderdome wouldn't be a bad thing. It would certainly add something to the series. Its never going to happen though.

big mac do you mean utilizing Calder track and the Thunderdone?? If so the how can it be done safely. When they raced on the combined circuits yrs ago it was bloody dangerous. I agree with you it will never happen
