Le Mans winning money
Anyone know the purse for the 24 Hours of Le Mans? For instance how much did Team Goh make last year for their win? How much did the drivers make? etc.
Thanks, feeling curious today |

From ACO ? It's almost symbolic... most of the gain comes from advertising and sponsors...

I heard somewhere a few years ago that it is a pittance, 21,000 euros for the winner. Apparently they paid out more prize money in the sixties than now. The reason why they hand out so little is because they can 'afford' it in the sense that it is such a prestigeous race to win and there are always more cars than available entry slots.

I think there might be other help from tyre companies ect, not actual cash but free tyres etc.

Prize money is minimal.
Le Mans programmes in the 80's and early 90's used to detail it all. |
