State Championship Race Meeting - Qld Raceway
Well another round of state level racing is scheduled for Queensland Raceway at Willowbank on the 16th & 17th of June.
State Championship rounds will be contested by Racing Cars, Formula Vee, Sports Cars, Sports Sedans, Improved Production, Gemini series and Historic Touring Cars. Racing will be on ONE of the shorter Clubman circuit configurations. I'm expecting 25-30 Historic Touring Cars to enter and at least as many Improved Production Touring cars. It is also pleasing to se that the new owners of the circuit are now honouring more of their commitment to Foundling Life memebers with discounted entry fees. Perhaps, discounted garage hire will follow. |

I've heard those claims for 40-50 entries before this year, but I think I will have to see to believe. The cars exist, but don't always leave their garage at the same time.
It would be great to see, especially since QR has always had a bit of trouble getting numbers. Then again, it might be a part of the backlash against Lakeside... |

Err Crash, i said 25-30 not 40-50.
I just realised, it's only 3 weeks away. I'd better get my finger out, i haven't touched the car since Eastern Creek. I believe the entire meeting is to be run on one of the short circuits. Cool, I might be able to avoid a pad change at the circuit. |

Well the supp regs are finally out and we have 25 Historic Touring Cars entered. My tip for the front row of the grid is '99 Champ Steve Emson in his XY GTHO and Kevin Heffernan having a guest drive in Gary Jackson's HQ Monaro GTS350. This should be great fun! :0
Adding to the excitment we have Cusso's XT Falcon GT, eight yep 8, count 'em LJ XU-1 Toranas, 6 Mini Cooper S, 2 Datsun 1600s, 2 EH Holden 179s, an XM Falcon 170 Pursuit, a Mk 1 Capri 3.0 V6, a BMW 2002 and a Mk 1 Cortina. The Historic Touring cars are running on circuit A, everyone else is on circuit B. We also have 22 Improved Production Cars entered. Unlike last meeting, there are no new biys having their first run. Biggest surprise is that Colin Giblett will be driving the RX-7 previously shared by Tony Dunn and Tim Jordan. |
