No Covid outbreak in Victoria (at this stage) - so far, so good but of course all the potential Covid impacts are impossible to predict.

$85 for an adult entry on Sunday

Glad I don't need to pay but I do earn my entry.

Shannon's Nationals ticket prices are far more reasonable, so that's the event I will prefer.

Fingers very much crossed now with four cases of community transmission in Victoria recorded today.

If spectators aren't allowed, the event won't happen.

Put simply, there is no way for the promoter to recoup the costs of the sanctioning fee without spectators.

we played football for basically 9 months without crowds.

They ran a number of races without crowds last year.

Surely a knee-jerk reaction in this instance if it happens.

The current arrangement for this race is the circuit pays Supercars.Without crowds there is no way of recouping this money.
At Sydney Park last year Supercars got the circuit for free from the state government who own the circuit. The circuit mangers -the ARDC- had nothing to do with it except help supply officials.
Supercars could run the meeting to fulfill the terms of their tv contract.Crowds were irrelevant to them.
I doubt Winton will be postponed but if it is there is plenty of room between Townsville and Eastern Creek to reschedule.
The football analogy is irrelevant because the codes would have lost hundreds of millions of dollars of tv money if there had been no matches.Same as F1 and Moto GP.This does not apply to Supercars.

Think it's more likely the other way around but will depend on discussions between Supercars/BAC/Vic Govt

Football analogy is spot on - only difference is that Supercars TV deal isn't as big as the football codes - there is still broadcast revenue / sponsor commitments though.

IF spectators are not permitted or heavily restricted in numbers, there'll need to be a deal made between BAC and Supercars, no doubt about that but events were run last year & if a deal is worked out, this weekend's event could happen - best to assume it's on until advised otherwise I reckon.

Pretty sure Winton rely on gate takings to finance the event.

Winton to proceed as planned at this stage anyway. Victorian acting Premier has said today that next 24 hours will be critical in deciding if further restrictions are going to be put in place.

I guess we'll have to settle for watching Scot Mac at Indianapolis instead, really hoping he gets a decent result, his result at Texas speedway was very impressive.
