You can see the exhaust opening in the rear bodywork on http://picasaweb.google.com/claude83...73488477672658
However, a blow diffuser might be a good idea. I would think that is it is fairly easy to implement because a diesel engine has no throttle valve. |

Well that wasn't exactly as exciting as I'd imagined, however I think it shows a deal of maturity on Peugeot's part not to get carried away with the new car - hopefully this is a sign we can expect a little better reliability from the...er...908.
As already mentioned, the fact that they will arrive at Sebring with 14 months of engine development and 8 months of car testing is very ominous for everyone except Audi (who don't exactly have a reputation for arriving under prepared). I doubt we'll see a LM or ILMC win for anything without a diesel engine once again - and nothing to do with equivalency this time! Last edited by Tom87; 3 Feb 2011 at 21:07. Reason: missing a word |

I don't really care what it's called, so long as it's racing behind noisy petrol-powered cars and not winning races

Marc Gene talks about the second-generation 908.

Interview with Marc Gene about the new car: http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...ance-6185.html
He was the first driver to drive the new 908, in Barcelona, and drove on 2 other occasions. It seems that Peugeot already did a lot of testing: they went to Barcelona, Aragon Motorland, Monza and Paul Richard. The drivers miss the power of the V12, but handling is better. Good news for the spectators: the V8 makes more noise than the V12. A picture of interior: http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...le908_Prez.jpg |

Some comments from Pagenaud: http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...ance-6188.html
Like Gene, he finds the new 908 much more nimble. The bigger front tyres allow for later breaking. |

@Victor_RO: http://86400.fr/images/stories/2011_...New_908_09.jpg clearly shows the exhausts. Note that there is only a NACA duct on the left side |

An official 550bhp so add another 10% and they're already over 600bhp.

Anyone else notice the dimensions they quote? Nothing at all like I scaled back in December...Think I was had ;0) I've offered up the side view of the rendering they released today and it is nothing at all like the 2800 mm wheelbase I scaled in December...much closer to the 2950 mm they admit.

I'm a bit disappointed with the roof not being silver like the older car, and the huge roof scoop. Maybe they needed a bigger one than audi for some reason. At least the car still looks the same elsewhere, perhaps better. But in my view I liked the Audi's 'fin' better.

Whoops, it appears it does have a silver roof, hard to see in the release show photos!

I see Daily Sportscar have decided to call it the 908X. Have I missed something?

I'd rather think that people are just trying to make the distinction clearer between the old 908 and the new 908. At least from what I heard in the press conference, the name is just 908, not 908 HDi FAP like the old one... but still, some more difference would be useful.

I prefer to call it the 908 bis. Peugeot did similar with the 905.
