I hoped the same thing too, then gave up and just gave CAM$ my money.

To their credit, the papers were in my letterbox, neatly bound & covered, in less than a week!

Which category will i be able to race in.

Im in the process of putting a tex racing diff in.
The old diff didn't agree with the new grunt, and the twisted axles weren't to happy either

Common prob with Stangs...just enter for the Regularity if you haven't sorted out Nb or that other mob that follows the V8 Supercars...

The Homologation number for the Ford Mustang 5.0 GT for Group A is 5140, dated from 1 May 1983.

Mustang 5.0 GT/ 85 is 5266 1 April 1985.

Just order these from CAMS!

Profi, you might be able to run it in Group Nc or Group Sb or perhaps Group T.

profi - how about Group Sb, there are other Shelby's racing there. Not sure if it would be compatible with what you've done to the car but the GT350's in the category seem to pull approx 4 squillion rpm so I gather there is a fair scope for modifications

I think you will find that the Ian Ross GT350 is limited to only 0.0000007500 squillion RPM (but I digress)...have you spoken to CAMS/other promoters about eligibility profi???

The car isnt a real shelby but came from the shelby batch, so its the closest possible fake. car before it was a shelby and the car after was also.

The only historic category ive talked to is the new american muscle car series
starting in march. i have also been looking at the Improved production road and that looks hopeful

7500rpm is still plenty but our engine is safe 8000 and has seen nearly 9000 by accident but they sound beautiful at revs

Gavin Bullas'es 69 mustang used to see 9000rpm every lap back when it was in groub NC

Dunno what your budget is profi (don't want to know) just trying to suggest opportunities where your Stang might be eligible....dunno if you have ever been around Mount Panorama but that is certainly something to aim for (thats why I suggested you contact FoSC)....nine grand is fine, if you have a friendly engine builder who works and supplies parts for free

9000rpm can be made safe look at NASCAR and our engine is along those lines.

I have never driven around bathurst, but its something ive always wanted to do. At the moment the car is a new setup and is a little bit untrustworthy in the handling department. Once its sorted and i get some more seat time bathurst will be on the cards.
Also need the practice there if sports sedans decide to go to the mountain.

BTW I build my own engines and import all the components its lots cheaper.

We race Shelbys in European historic events , in between our regulations we can not build a 8000rpm engine , the latest i build is a poper 289ci based on a period engine block and heads and gives 235bhp on the dyno with max of 7300rpm , stock style rockers and flat tappers , breakerpoint dissy , www.va-motorsport.com

Grant Wilson on the Gold Coast is trying to start up something of a Trans-Am series for similar cars to yourself to run at meetings like the Muscle Car Masters... might be worthwhile tracking him down.
